This week’s LEGO Ideas feature is ‘The Beehive‘ by Sogenius106. With the growing awareness in recent years about the importance of Bees to our ecosystem this would make an excellent LEGO set. The build features a beehive, bees that can ‘fly’ around the beehive, flowers and a jar of honey.

The Beehive can be opened to reveal the bees inside, where they are surrounded by honey. You will notice this golden honey throughout the hive, represented by 1×1 round plates in transparent yellow. There is also a Queen Bee, made noticeable by her blue coloration. She is in her own area where she is producing eggs. – SoGenius106

A lot of attention has gone into these little details, which give it a great educational value . And the option to spin the bees around gives it some play features. Because of this it’s not just an interesting set for AFOL‘s, but very suitable for younger builders as well. The build as proposed contains just over a 1,000 parts. This would make it a medium sized set compared to other LEGO Ideas sets released in the last few years.
