Images of LEGO Ideas Orient Express (21344) set have surfaced online, thanks to BrickFinder for the heads up!
The set will comprise of a whopping 2,540 pieces, retail for $/€299.99/TBC and rumoured to release 1st November 2023. Unfortunately there aren’t any other details surrounding the set as to whether it will fit on standard LEGO tracks or brick-built ones. Watch this space for more images and details soon.
For me personally the train looks great and I’m loving the blue colour scheme. There is a good amount of Minifigures and the interior looks good. Take a look at the first look image below and let us know your thoughts on the LEGO Ideas Orient Express (21344).

While much is unknown about this set, and while much can be said when comparing this official version to the original submission, I would like to take a moment to point out how much it improves over the previous (much-maligned) UCS Hogwarts Express. To begin with, there is no station platform (thankfully!), which would have significantly raised the price of the set. It looks like there won’t be any electronic components (like motors or light bricks), which would further increase the price. There is a great selection of period-appropriate minifigures generic enough for any LEGO city, and thankfully, there is a fireman to stoke the boiler! The passenger cars have substantial detailing both inside and out, without being too large to look out of place with other LEGO City trains. The new tie rod pieces for the drive wheels will be welcomed by any LEGO railfan, and the engine looks small enough to fit on standard LEGO six-stud-gauge track. My primary concerns are that there will be a lot of stickers instead of printed pieces and that the built-up display track uses a lot of pieces that could have been put into the train itself. However, I am overall pleased with this set at face value. LEGO seems to have struck a good balance among price, size, detail, scale, and compatibility.
