This week’s LEGO Ideas Feature is brought to you by TangTaizong, their recreation of an iconic late 80s movie is amazing and would make for a great display piece for fans that remember Honey, I Shrunk The Kids!

The project is well executed and definitely looks the part. Choosing to portray this particular scene is a great idea as it was so action-packed and had audiences on the edge of their seats. The remote-controlled lawnmower whizzing around the garden with the shrunken kids running for their lives, was truly a fantasy piece of cinema.

The build features a portion of the lawn being mowed as the lawnmower makes its way towards the kids, who during the past night had found a safe haven, sleeping in the inside of a blue brick! – TangTaizong

The build captures that moment and pulls it’s off well, it even has a giant blue LEGO brick wedged in the ground. The brick-built grass standing tall, the dirt and random particles, the lawnmower coming in fast ad of course the Minifigures.

The set includes the four main characters, Amy, Nick, Little Russel and Ronald. It also comes with Tom, the kid next door, who was asked to mow their lawn. Tom’s Minifigure can be seen standing on the lawnmower with controller in-hand, going about his chores seemingly unaware of what is really happening. The four kids Minifigures look awesome and really go like the stars of the movie, of course in LEGO form.

What I like most about this idea is that it makes for both a great playset for younger fans and the perfect shelf sitter for older fans. This film from 1989 brings back so many fond memories, sitting down and watching this as a child was spectacular, seeing these shrunken kids trying to get back home and the epic adventure doing so.

If LEGO were to make this then I’d be first in-line to grab one, it would not only be sat pride of place in my display but would be used for many photo opportunities with the included Minifigures and of course my own. The lawnmower can come away from the rest of the set and can be display without it, or visa-versa, if you just wanted the giant LEGO brick, the grass and the kids.

overall the idea and execution is perfect, you can’t ask for anything more from a build that has it all. We would like to wish TangTaizong the best of luck in gaining the required 10k support.
