FunWhole are back with a brand new set, this one adds a very cool Graffiti Bus Stop to the Street Fusion line of sets!

First things first, thank you to FunWhole for sending us this set for review, we genuinely like most sets we get the privilege of building, which makes it easier for us to review. As always we like to give our honest opinions whether the set was gifted or bought, so stick with us for all your brick news and reviews.

The Box & Contents:

At first glance the box looks small, but don’t let that fool you, the finished set is a decent 16×32 studs. The artwork is bright and colourful and features the Bus Stop front and centre, also pictured are the 4 included figures, along with the set details.

  • F9066
  • 524 pieces
  • 16+

Inside the box are a plethora of bags, numbered 1 to 3, an F (figures and specialist bricks) bag and of course the bright orange paper light kit bags numbered 1 & 2. The Instruction manual is also inside and is a nice size, not too thick and holds well in the hand.

The Build:

The Build is broken up into 3 sections, the long back wall, the smaller end wall & flea market and the Bus Stop itself.

The whole thing takes up a space the size of 16×32 studs, which is quite a nice foot print especially for us City builders with random gaps to fill. Each part clips together with ease and although quite flimsy when lifted does hold rather well and doesn’t just ‘snap’ off.

Starting with the large wall, you buildup each section as you go along, including the placement of the impressive Graffiti wall itself. As with all FunWhole sets the pieces are printed and to a very high standard too. I’m always blown away when I see a printed piece, especially in a set this size where bigger brands would opt for stickers. Just look at the printed bricks below, they look stunning!

The first light is installed in the back wall, which is thread through from the back to a small lamp on the other side. With the specialist bricks from from FunWhole, the installation process is both easy and painless, they have become a pleasure to fit with the final product being so worth it. There’s a handy place to attach the slimline battery pack too that keeps it out of sight. Please note that there are 2 of these battery packs in the set that both require 2 CR2032 batteries each.

When it comes to building the Bus Stop itself there are some interesting techniques, including SNOT (studs not on top) for the bench. There is another light here too, in the roof. It’s a slight bigger series of LEDs in a ring formation, that sits facing down looking through a large transparent plate. This plate mutes the light passing through it nicely and creates a warm aesthetic.

The smaller section of wall is basically a scaled down version and this includes the build process. It features a mini flea market with a number of goods available to purchase including roller skates, vinyl, a games console and an old TV. There is also a smaller printed section of Graffiti that read ‘Be Here Now‘, again this quality of the printing is spot on.

The Lights:

When it comes to the lights, as we mentioned above, there are two present in the set, one is a lamp attached to the large back wall and the other is in the roof of the Bus Stop.

The cables included comprise of two USB plugs, a ring LED, a 1×2 plate LED and two small connectors. Also in the box are the two battery packs and a tiny headed screwdriver.

Below are photos of where the thin battery packs go, you’ll see and agree that they are out of sight and positioned perfectly. One is behind the wall whilst the other is under the set in a space made earlier on. These take CR2032 batteries, two per pack so make sure you grab these before your set arrives to be prepared. They are easy to fit as the handy included screwdriver is used to open close them.

You’ll also agree that the set looks absolutely amazing both with the lights on and off. It is essentially a 2-in-1 set, perfect for display on a shelf and in a City, for both day and night. The LEDs are bright but not overpowering, creating a way aesthetic that highlights details you would necessarily see with them. I particularly like how the back light shines through the Bus Stop window panes, the Graffiti shines bright and the whole thing looks a magical.

The Figures:

Four figures are included which is quite a good amount for a set of this size. They represent a diverse array of characters including a skateboarder, commuter, graffiti artist and maintenance guy.

As with past FunWhole sets you’ll need to assemble these yourself, which I consider to be a pain, but then again I’m used to the leading brand of Minifigure. The legs meed to be popped onto the waist, the hands into the arms then onto the body and so on. It’s probably the only real grumble I have with sets from FunWhole.

The figures are getting better and are somewhat growing on me. Their unique designs, clothing and accessories suit the set and as mentioned before cover a broad range of characters, one even has a sand green tool box!

Overall the FunWhole Graffiti Bus Stop (F9066) is an awesome little set, it opens up the Street Fusion and a Town Life themes to new possibilities and layouts. The 16×32 footprint is perfect for filling gaps in your display or City and to be totally honest we need more of them. All we need now is a FunWhole Bus!
