LEGO City Sports Car 60285 Review!

No set is too small here at The Brick Post, as we enjoy building and reviewing every LEGO set we aquire. We recently reviewed a LEGO Minecraft (21164) set that had a total of 92 pieces.

It’s these and 4+ sets that introduce and grow a young fans interest and collection, and I must say today’s set review is perfect for budding builders!

The LEGO City Sports Car (60285), comes in at a very affordable £8.99, and comes complete with a cool looking Minifigure. The Instruction manual is laid out in the usual way, but with only two parts (maximum) needed per page, making it extremely easy to follow.

Once I had built it I managed to take whole chunks off at a time in order to photograph the different stages of construction. The above image shows kind of how the build goes together and how simple the sections are, again making this set a pretty straightforward build.

Consisting of only 89 pieces you can imagine there’s not much detail, and you’d be somewhat right, as the car seat is non-existent and the steering wheel is on the floor! That being said the overall look of the car is where LEGO spent all the detail points, from the bonnet and the smooth curves right the way to the spoiler, it looks pretty good in my opinion.

LEGO has stuck to the six stud wide design and I am so happy that they have. It allows you to slot this vehicle straight into a City and it wouldn’t look out of place. Ever since the LEGO Speed Champions become eight studs wide I haven’t touched them, they’re just too big for a City. All hail the six stud wide cars!

It ticks so many boxes when it comes to stylish good looks, with the many curves and layed details. Both the front and back end views are gorgeous, it’s like a scene straight out of Top Gear!

The included Minifigure isn’t too bad either with his stylish ‘sports car drivers‘ jacket, clean white skinny jeans, and his surfer dude haircut.

As a Minifigure collector I tend to judge them on prints, be it on torsos or otherwise, and this Minifigure’s torso is the bee’s knees! The amount of detail both front and back is great, the colour of his jacket sways me to think it’s leather. A light-blue polo shirt peeking through really finishes it off nicely. A second face would of been nice also, perhaps sporting a pair of designer sunglasses.

Overall the whole set is a must, and for the RRP of £8.99 it truly is a bargain. The sports car looks absolutely stunning with the many curves and angles along the body. 

The Minifigure suits the build to a tee, and you can imagine him driving around your City.

We highly recommend this set to anyone looking for a nice, simple and relaxing build experience with a fully functional vehicle once done.
