With the books and recent movie adaptation, it was inevitable that Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile would make it to LEGO Ideas. Today’s feature may not have been the first but it is such a good build we just had to share it!
Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile By 7.sTuDs is the perfect subject matter for the Idea platform, it’s a very popular children’s book and now a hit musical movie. It just makes sense to recreate this scene as it is so iconic and works well translated into brick form.
With this set I have attempted to capture all of Lyle’s joy and fun. Come on, a crocodile in the tub! 7.sTuDs
I’ll be honest and say that I can’t recall reading the books, but I have recently seen the movie adaptation and it was brilliantly done and the main song is very catchy. The Bathtub scene in particular was very funny and 7.sTuDs has done a wonderful job recreating it. They have included so many details it really makes the set look full of life. The shower head, rubber ducky, and more are done so well but the main Star of the build is Lyle himself of course.
The scale of Lyle looks spot on and the added points of articulation means you can position him in multiple ways. It has become standard practice to use the pointed white elements for teeth and 7.sTuDs has done just that. I particularly like the shape of Kyle’s head, it looks just like the source material of books and the movie.
The bathtub itself is also an awesome feat of LEGO engineering with its curves and lip, just like a traditional bathtub. Add the chequered flooring and other room set items and you have a fully fledged idea, and what an epic idea it is!
I tried to add many details: Lyle’s red scarf, his passion for music, the little duck on the cover of the movie, the plants and towels with initials like in the book’s illustrations. And again, the black and white floor, with some green tiles here and there: a detail from the book, also taken up in the movie. 7.sTuDs
I won’t go into too much detail as I would like you to pop over to the official LEGO Ideas page and see for yourself. This idea is fantastic and one I’d happily purchase if made into a real LEGO set.
