I know, I know, it’s a bit early to showcase a Christmas themed idea, but come on, it’s the Grinch. He himself despises the holiday season, so featuring this idea is totally fine and not at all out of character, plus it’s brilliantly designed and executed!
The Grinch’s House by Mric76 is both the perfect play set for younger fans and the shelf sitter older fans need in their collection. The idea is based on the Grinch’s House, which is essentially a cave inside a Mountain. It over looks Whoville, he used to reside there when he was younger but since his heart shrank two sizes too small he hates the townsfolk and Christmas.
The Grinch, whose very name makes the Whos tremble, lives as a recluse in a cave…
The outside of the cave is done using grey ropes at different angles to produce a natural and realistic look. Covered in snow with a few opening on both levels, it makes for a very interesting piece to loon at, with the green door, hatch and pipe.
The grinch’s house has several easter eggs such as the heart scanner, the spring bed, the musical monkey and many others that we find in the film.
Spin the set around at you see a whole lot more going on and some play features jump straight out at you. All the Easter Eggs and references that you can spot are taken from the film and work so well in brick-built form, from the heart scanner, spring bed and the musical monkey. It will be a difficult decision on which side to display that’s for sure.
Included in the idea are three Minifigures, Grinch, Grinch as Santa Claus and Cindy Lou Who. All three look amazing and from their designs and prints to the outfits they’re wearing. My personal favourite is the Grinch dressed as Santa Claus. Cindy Lou Who’s cape and skirt are fabric and look great, it would be great if LEGO made more fabric pieces especially with different designs.
