Since the official release, just a few days ago, of the LEGO Marvel Series 2 CMF, there have been multiple reported cases of theft because of the cardboard packaging!

A couple of images have surfaced from shoppers of ripped open boxes and empty shells left on shop shelves. The image below was found at a Walmart in the US and shared online via Reddit by user nitramekaj. At least 20 of the now cardboard blind packets have been ripped open, along with reports of several of the parts missing.

Although it is very environmentally friendly, which is in line with the new LEGO ethos, we all knew this would happen in some shape or form. I guess the only way to stop thieves is for retailers to hindnthem away behind the counter or to pop them in security cases. Both cases result in fans feeling detoured in purchasing them and in some cases stop sales altogether.

Being packaged in cardboard containers also takes away most of the fun for children and fan alike, feeling the packets to determine which character it is was all part of the excitement. There are aways to make sure you get the ones you want, but involves traipsing around with a set of scales, as each one weighs slightly different.

Alternatively you can head to many other stores and independent toy shops to secure yourself a box, which usually contains 2 or even 3 whole sets. Joining multiple Facebook Groups and other online communities can also be handy, some sellers list entire sets and individually, cutting down the chance of doubles significantly.

Either way we hope LEGO sees the issue and many complaints from both fans and retailers as to what is truly going on. Do you have any suggestions for the future of CMF packaging? Let us know via the comments below.
