Several reports have surfaced that the LEGO Super Mario theme could be retiring next year!

The three Starter Course sets were supposed to be around until July 2026, but if reports are true that date has been pushed up to July 2024. With the recent reveal of Donkey Kong set this is surprising, these are due to drop in August, meaning the sets wouldn’t be around for a whole year.

There isn’t any official word from LEGO themselves yet but could the lack of theme popularity be the issue, the constant sales on Amazon, or could we be getting something new? With Nintendo calling the shots and demanding the interactive figures we have now, could we finally be graced actual Minifigures or perhaps a theme reboot to cash in on the recent success of the Super Mario Bros. movie?

Let us know what you think this means via the comments below. We personally hope it’s the latter, but think this could be Game Over for Mario!
