Today LEGO unveiled the biggest DC Comics set to date: Batman The Animated Series Gotham City (76271). The set will be available from 1st April 2024.
The set is quite impressive on first look and is a unique mixture of the Art and Architecture themes, combined with the DC universe. It’s a colorful display set, featuring the Gotham skyline with many iconic locations like Arkham Asylum, Jokerland, Wayne Manor with the Batcave etc represented in microscale. Even the Batmobile gets a really effective micro version.
The set comes with 4 minifigures: Batman, Catwoman, Harley Quinn and Joker on a stand with 2 gargoyles. In total, there are 4,208 pieces in the model. Many will be small tiles and plates however. The bat signal is on a 8×8 dish, which will probably be printed. Other decorated elements will rely on stickers however. Because of this, the set price is quite reasonable for a Batman licensed set with a pricetag of $/€299.99 / £259.99.
The red and dark red sky give this model a very lush look and the Batman logo on top of the frame adds to the premium appearance of the set. It furthermore adds to a nice atmosphere of suspense. Other colour schemes like blue or grey wouldn’t have fitted as well.
There are quite some clever little build techniques, containers for towers, bananas for plumes of smoke, quarter curved slopes for the air balloons, several different lattice pieces for the texture in buildings and we can go on and on to list them all. Celebrate 85 years of Batman with the new LEGO DC Batman Gotham City Skyline set
Today the LEGO Group, in collaboration with Warner Bros. Discovery Global Consumer Products and DC, unveils the LEGO DC Batman Gotham City Skyline set, an amazing recreation of Gotham City as it appears in in “Batman: The Animated Series.” This atmospheric set, a 3D recreation of the Gotham City skyline in LEGO bricks, releases as Warner Bros. Discovery celebrates 85 years of Batman throughout 2024.
The 4,210 piece set is a Batman fan’s dream as every tower and building meticulously recreates iconic locations from Warner Bros. Animation’s “Batman: The Animated Series” including the Gotham City Court, Arkham Asylum, the classic Batwing and Bat Signal. The set is also full of Easter eggs and beloved characters including Catwoman, The Joker, Harley Quinn and Batman himself. In addition, parts of the set open up to reveal more intricacies inside.
