LEGO Make & Take Events have become a big deal over the last couple of years and even more so this year with some nice looking mini builds being given away totally free of charge!
Recent builds to note have been the exclusive Leicester Square Store and the Arcade Machine, this happened to be a store exclusive which most fans missed out on, fans were being turned away as stocks were very limited. Other builds such as the Ramadan Lantern and other Seasonal goodies were less busy but just as good, often including sought-after parts.
The LEGO Make & Take we’re reviewing today is the Mini Disney Castle, complete with Disney 100 printed plate.
Thanks to the ever increasing LEGO community and the many account sharing news, including us, more people are finding out about these events which is amazing. The only downside to this is the queues and stick levels. Unfortunately I had to work on thefirst day this event was held so I set Mrs Brick Post and Brick Post Jr a mission, to grab me one.
I knew it would be busy but when they arrived, 10 minutes early, they sent a photo of the queue, it was long and almost 130 people long. I knew it was that long as my Wife got handed a queue card with 126 and 127 on it, with a total of 130 being handed out. Wow!
They were told 130 Mini Disney Castles were available each day, making the free set itself very sought-after, for both kids and adult fans of LEGO.
After an hour and a half queuing they both got into the Southampton store and began building, sending photos back to HQ (myself). They both throughly enjoyed the build although my wife was a little flustered and tired from queuing thelat hers Mini Disney Castle was slightly wrong, but we won’t hold that against her.
Once home I could finally feast my eyes on this wonderful little build and boy I’m impressed!
As a build it is rather small but as you all know that doesn’t mean much in LEGO terms as it looks like the source material and that is enough. The many spires, towers and roof tops all come together to make the Disney Castle what it is, with the added archway at the front you can instan recognise what it is.
When this event was first advertised, a couple of weeks ago, all the AFOLs (adult fan of LEGO) spotted the printed tile/plate and screamed in unison “I need that“. Which is why this particular event was busier than usual, chuck in a rare or printed element and LEGO are onto a winner.
The circular tile/plate would be a great addition to the collection anyway, but the added ‘Disney 100‘ printing is what makes it so rare. The only set it comes in is this Make & Take freebie. As always the design and printing is crisp and done extremely well, even when it comes to a free part LEGO‘s standards haven’t slipped.
I am so chuffed to have this in my collection and I doubt I’d ever part with it. Add this to the set I purchased and the GWP (gift with purchase), it turned out to be a very Disney day!
I can’t wait to get stuck into the LEGO Ideas Hocus Pocus Sanderson Sisters’ Cottage (21341) set. It looks absolutely stunning and a build I can’t wait to do, being a big medieval/cadte fan this appealed to me the most out of recent releases.
If you would like to pickup a Mini Disney Castle yourself then the last day for the promotion is 2nd July. Select UK and European stores only between 12pm and 2pm. Please do check with your local store first as times may vary. I highly recommend getting there early to avoid disappointment. Good luck!
