Myself and my Son are avid gamers and when the news dropped that LEGO Fortnite sets were coming we couldn’t contain our excitement, we just had to get them. The first in our wishlist was the Battle Bus, which we’ve already built and reviewed, the second was the Supply Llama. Both completely different sets and builds but both tieing into the Fortnite world we love.

The Box & Contents:

As always with these licensed themes the boxart is bright and colourful. In the background is a Fortnite landscape of hills, a lake and a shore, in the foreground is the set itself with all the added loot extras scattered around it. A bunch of playability features are shown on the reverse of the box, from the opening side-flaps to the slightly movable head.

Inside is an instruction manual, 6 numbered bags and a small sticker sheet. The instructions are very straightforward even when you get to application of the tiles and smaller parts, being a 12+ the build is challenging in parts but each step is clearly set out for you and in manageable sections.

The Build:

We purchased this set in release day to make sure we got a copy as we knew how popular it would be. Having been left in the backlog pile for a few weeks, we had a free Sunday afternoon recently and jumped at the chance to build it.

Emptying out the contents onto the floor, I started building. The floor may not have been the best choice as I’m no spring Chicken, after constructing the first bag I moved to the table, several bones clicking and back aching. The first bag builds the solid body section of the Llama, quickly moving onto the upper body and the handful of tiled panels needed to cover it.

This is where the build gets a little repetitive as the tiles and colour combinations are pretty much the same on all sides. You soon get into a rhythm though and you’re done in no time, thank goodness as repeating designs in LEGO is one of my nightmares. The head section is simpler and only requires a handful of parts, the ears clip on along with the bottom jaw and the finished part looks goofy but fun.

Once you’ve attached all the panels, the head and the stumpy little legs, the Supply Llama is complete. Through the 6 bags you also pop together smaller builds, the ‘loot‘ if you please, that spills out of the Llama when you crack it open (or lift the hatches).

These side-builds are small but do represent Fortnite elements found in the game, maybe a more OG version of it but still they’re cool to have in LEGO form. Mostly comprising of small parts they include a backpack, dynamite, grapple gun and more. The health bottles and chug pot will come in very handy when I finally move the LEGO Fortnite Minifigures into my City.

Overall this £34.99/$39.99 is worth the money, in my opinion, especially if you’re a fan. Young players of the game will appreciate the end result and for my Son it’s going in display in his room. For the 691 piece count the price is great although many are tiles and plates, this isn’t a bad thing as it gives the sense of detail and The true Pinata feel.

The side flaps open easily, a little too easy, but they are held closed by two simple locks. Once opened though the loot inside falls out well, it even comes ourlt randomly depending on the rider you pop them inside, awesome unexpected feature.
