Today we explore the latest LEGO additions to the lineup with the release of the Sonic & Tails BrickHeadz.

The Boxes:

Both boxes are small but that’s understandable as Sonic comprises of 139 pieces whilst Tails has 131. Inside each box you’ll find a number of small bags and an instruction manual.

Unfortunately, I guess due to the lower cost, there aren’t any QR codes on the front of the instruction booklet, as you likely already know the newly renamed LEGO Insiders program gives you 20 points per set when you login and scan the QR code.

The Builds:

My Son and I sat down to build these BrickHeadz, to my surprise I ended up with Sonic, we cracked open the boxes, emptied the contents out onto our trays and got building, we even popped Sonic The Hedgehog movie (sequel) on telly to watch.

The build process of BrickHeadz is pretty standard across the board, with the additional changes made for the appearance. Sonic has his iconic blue spikes that wasade mostly with a relative new element, the 1×2 wedge.

I like how the eyes are done with large white areas filled in with smaller ‘pupils’. Sonic is holding a gold ring whilst Tails is clutching a wrench.

Unlike Sonic, Tails is less spikey and more fluffy, not being a Hedgehog an all. This results in the sides and back being more smooth and finished off with tiles. Of course he has his two tails, which help him to fly.

Overall the builds are fun but short, each with their own techniques. It’s getting harder to review BrickHeadz as there have been so many, if you’ve built one you could argue you’ve been them all, with the majority of them having standard base builds and the appearance parts added on.

Either way, these two are awesome for fans of both BrickHeadz and Sonic The Hedgehog and make for cool display pieces.
