Taking a look back at all the classic sets, I guess you could call them vintage or retro, we can see LEGO has come along way. Somethings have stayed roughly the same whilst others have changed drastically and even fizzled out completely. Thankfully though, LEGO are slowly but surely giving us fans what we want by revisiting some favourites, like the recent Lion Knight’s Castle, Space Galaxy Explorer, Eldorado Fortress and some gift with purchase sets, to name a few.

Whilst researching this topic, I came across so many older sets that I’ve never seen before. Perhaps the most appealing to me personally is the vast amount of City-style sets, including Fire stations, Dock yards, Petrol stations and so much more. It got me thinking that surely some are worthy of a modern LEGO remake, but which ones?

So my question for you is which classic LEGO sets deserve a modern remake? Discuss below or head over to our Instagram channel where these questions really take off. @thebrickpost

LEGO Ideas Feature: Wolfpack Lair by GJC15344 https://www.thebrickpost.com/lego-ideas/lego-ideas-feature-wolfpack-lair-by-gjc15344/ https://www.thebrickpost.com/lego-ideas/lego-ideas-feature-wolfpack-lair-by-gjc15344/#respond Mon, 11 Mar 2024 19:30:01 +0000 https://www.thebrickpost.com/?p=36182 Castle remains one of the most popular themes within the LEGO community. The recent release of the medieval market square is another great example for that. Within castle Wolfpack is one of the most famous factions. With only 4 sets released in the nineties, it still gets quite a lot of attention with references in CMF figures and even a torso in the mentioned 2024 set.

One of these few sets was the 6075 Wolfpack Tower, a personal favourite from my childhood. From the first glance it’s immediately noticable this set is heavily referenced in this idea, without being a straight copy.

On first glance there might not seem many similarities between the original set and this Ideas entry. On closer inspection there are many references to find however. There’s the entrance over a bridge, the tower is set in between rocks, the masonry pattern on the outside that’s achieved with ingots and tiless, the hidden rooms accesible via water etc etc. The colour scheme differs subtly with dark red instead of normal red and less black in the build. To me that’s a result of the expanded color options we have nowadays compared to the nineties.

From the inside this design is quite detailed as well. With many rooms and storytelling options included. This is enhanced by the 6 minifigures included. These minifigures are:

  • Two Wolfpack soldiers
  • One Wolfpack archer
  • One Wolfpack master thief
  • One Wolfpack robber Chief and his wife

The Wolfpack Lair captures the essence of medieval fantasy, providing a unique building experience and endless opportunities for imaginative play. This set appeals to LEGO fans who love epic adventures, intricate designs, and the nostalgia of classic castle themes.

Which Retired Set Would You Bring Back? https://www.thebrickpost.com/blog/which-retired-set-would-you-bring-back/ https://www.thebrickpost.com/blog/which-retired-set-would-you-bring-back/#respond Wed, 28 Feb 2024 11:27:28 +0000 https://www.thebrickpost.com/?p=35905 LEGO has a very long history and a list of sets to suit, these include the many that are currently available and countless retired classics that most of us missed out on. Every once in awhile LEGO decide to bring a set out of retirement, give it a once over, an update here & there and start selling it again. This happened to the Taj Mahal and the Saturn V Rocket sets.

This is a great way for fans to pickup long retired sets at a decent price, we all know how expensive the secondary market can get. I personally took advantage of this when LEGO re-released the aforementioned Saturn V Rocket set, I pounced on it and collected it from the LEGO store on release day.

My question for you today is, if you could bring back a particular set, which one would it be and what changes would you make?

For me it would have to be some of the Pirate of the Caribbean sets or anything Pirate themed. Those larger ships were spectacular and looking back were great looking builds and Minifigures. I don’t think I’d change anything about them just bring them back. There are of course other amazing classic LEGO sets that could be re-released, but which ones? Leave you comments below, why not discuss it in real-time with fellow fans via our Instagram post.

LEGO Ideas Feature: Modular Medieval Village By Albrick https://www.thebrickpost.com/lego-ideas/lego-ideas-feature-modular-medieval-village-by-albrick/ https://www.thebrickpost.com/lego-ideas/lego-ideas-feature-modular-medieval-village-by-albrick/#respond Sat, 13 Jan 2024 09:44:49 +0000 https://www.thebrickpost.com/?p=34726 Our LEGO Ideas Feature kicked off last week by senior editor Patrick and the stunning Tiger Head Sculpture by LEGOtruman. This week it’s my turn to get stuck into the plethora of awesome ideas found at www.ideas.lego.com! As I love a good Modular and the Medieval theme I thought it was only right to share a project that encapsulates both, introducing the Modular Medieval Village by Albrick

At first glance you’ll see an idea that looks somewhat overpopulated and busy, but take a moment longer and it becomes apparent that there is more to this build than meets the eye. The creator, Albrick, has taken the word modular and ran with it, I can’t think of a more creative way to present and devide a set then what I see here. The display possibilities are vast with not just the buildings but the layout and overall village look & feel.

From the many images included in the submission you can see just how many, and probably more, way the Village can and could look. Each action is built on a standalone 16×16 plate, allowing the end user to place them in any combination. Don’t like the buildings in a row? Swap one out for the column/statue. Don’t like where the market stall is? Move it.

I’ve built many LEGO modular-style sets over the years, where small sections of walls can be interchanged, but Albricksdesign allows for so much more modification, great for popping into a City, a medieval City of course.

That’s not all, there is a full interior to the buildings too. From a lovely homestead to to a Knights barracks, there even space for a Cow in the small house. Outside there is also a lot to see with the statue, market stall and other details. They all come together to form a well rounded and fully fledged set idea, one I hope will gain the 10,000 supporters, make it through each round and ultimately go into production!

We would like to wish Albrick the best of luck in gaining the required support. If you like the look of this idea and would like to show your support, please use the links below. Registration is free to LEGO Ideas and only takes a minute, so head over there now and do your part!

LEGO Ideas Feature: The Ladies Outpost By Brick_Piso89 https://www.thebrickpost.com/lego-ideas/lego-ideas-feature-the-ladies-outpost-by-brick_piso89/ https://www.thebrickpost.com/lego-ideas/lego-ideas-feature-the-ladies-outpost-by-brick_piso89/#respond Sun, 08 Oct 2023 17:57:46 +0000 https://www.thebrickpost.com/?p=31685 This week’s LEGO Ideas feature is brought to you by a very creative individual, Brick_Piso89, and their The Ladies Outpost!

The set is based around a lovely looking Castle, complete with three floors. Covering the exterior is a tree on one side accompanied by branches and foliage, a perfect setting for a Castle I think you’ll agree.

Since I was little, the castle theme has always been one of my favorites.
It is an outpost completely dedicated to women, fundamental in our modern civilization – Brick_Piso89

As the title suvehsts the Castle is owned and run by Women. The Minifigures come dressed in the armour from a recent CMF (Collectible Minifigure), it has a pink shield and gold crown emblem printed on it, the shileds themseleves have the same design.

There is a lot to look at when viewing the LEGO Ideas submission, with lots of corners, rooms, hidden areas and more. Outside you’ll find a training dummy, a log pile/storage place and a weapons cache.

I particularly like hose the Castle is done, the odd shades for bricks used front he walls creates a nice looking aesthetic, add in the many details and foliage and you have a well rounded set idea. If LEGO would ever make this is a different question, but with the recent release of the Lion Knights Castle set it’s looking likely LEGO are giving the fans what they’ve wanted for quite some time, and rightly so!

The set idea itself it fully polished and could easily be made into a purchasable set, I’d buy it for sure and display it proudly on my shelf.

Without giving too much away, I’d like you to view the submission itself on LEGO Ideas, so please get over there now and give your support.

Lego Ideas Feature: Forest Base by Iyan Ha https://www.thebrickpost.com/lego-ideas/lego-ideas-feature-forest-base-by-iyan-ha/ https://www.thebrickpost.com/lego-ideas/lego-ideas-feature-forest-base-by-iyan-ha/#respond Sat, 16 Sep 2023 06:43:10 +0000 https://www.thebrickpost.com/?p=31027 The LEGO Castle theme remains very popular wit AFOL‘s and a great source of inspiration for (MOC) builders. Within Castle there are various subthemes, with Forestmen from the late eighties and early nineties being very popular. Sets from this era therefore are an inspiration for Ideas entries more often. But this entry by Iyan Ha really stands out.

We featured Iyan Ha before here on The Brick Post with the ‘Where’s Wally?’ entry, currently in review after making the 10k supporters. You can check it out here.

What we get with this idea is a rather elegant ‘wooden’ building. To give this building its interesting character there’s a lot of different textures. From rocks on the bottom to treebranches higher up. The Forestmen shields are used to great effect. Other details like the blue roofs and target practice prints pay homage to the previous sets.

This project is a base for forest people deep in the forest. The concept of a building is a natural blend of trees, rocks, and building.
The building is a wooden building and harmonizes well with the natural things of the surrounding environment.
It’s perfect for their base, living in the deep forest, living a righteous outlaw life like Robin Hood. The exterior is mainly brown and dark gray, the colors of trees and rocks. And the green of leaves or vines surrounds them.

– Iyan Ha

The entry uses 2743 parts and 6 minifigures and 5 animals are included. Just like the Castle sets we got in the last few years updated versions of classic figures are used, adding to the nostalgic feel of this set.

The inside of the building is packed with many small details and great parts to enhance the build. And a lot of round tiles with wood pattern really connect the outside of the building with the inside.

A final fun detail is the prison with skeleton like we’ve seen in many LEGO sets. This really completes the nostalgic feel of this idea for me. I can only encourage you to have a look at the project using the link below, and to see and read more about all the details in this lush build.

We would like to wish Iyan Ha the best of luck in gaining the required 10k support. If you like the look of this idea and would like to give your support, please use the links below. Registration is free to LEGO Ideas and only takes a minute, so head over there now and do your part!
