Today’s review is almost as small as they come but it’s perhaps one of the best sets from the first 2024 wave of LEGO!

The LEGO City Burger Truck (60404) is a widely sought-after set that nearly everyone raves about. We couldn’t wait to pick it up, build it and review it for you. As always the sets we review here at The Brick Post as bought and paid for by ourselves, we pour our heart & soul  into each review to give you a better picture of what’s included, how the build process is and of course the final product. Adverts are the only source of funds the website makes and it goes straight back into it, server costs, maintenance and all that technical jazz. Thank you.

The Box & Contents:

As with all LEGO City artwork, the branding is primarily blue with a cityscape in the background. This set is no different and has a building, tree, and skyscrapers positioned behind the set itself, which takes centre stage.

On the back you’ll see a couple of the main features and playable values, including removing the Burger shack from the flatbed truck. More background details can be seen here with a small precinct type area with Minifigures meeting and checking out what’s on offer.

Inside the box are the usual suspects, a couple of instructions and bags filled with LEGO. You’ll notice in the image below that this particular set has the coveted and somewhat scarce paper bags, I feel honoured to finally experience them.

Apart from them being paper they are pretty much the same as the plastic bags, they hold LEGO, that’s it. They are of course better for the environment and they do hold up well, there are even smaller paper bags inside. When building this set live on The Brick Post’s Instagram channel, the perforated rip line didn’t actually work and the bag ripped just under it rather than on the lines. A small issue that in no way hindered the build itself.

The Build:

Having two instruction manuals means you could build with a family member or friend, in my case this set was all mine, I wanted it all to myself (insert evil laugh here)!

Bag 1 is the Truck and is fairly simple in construction. Starting with the base you build up the sides, adding wheel arches at the front, printed ‘flame‘ tiles along each side and a flat section at the back where the Burger shack will sit.

As the build continues you add the cab section, which is lacking detail in my opinion. Apart from the steering wheel the cab is empty, not even a seat. As a basic flatbed style Truck it’s absolutely fine and does it’s job well, which is to transport the Burger shack around. Using the 4 studs either side the shack has enough clutchpower to stay in place, without taking the plates with it.

As I mentioned before, the ‘flame’ prints are amazing and a total surprise when opening the bag. I didn’t expect to find printed elements in a set of this price. Well done LEGO, a feature I hope becomes the norm.

Onto bag 2 now and the Burger shack, in all it’s small but mighty glory. The first thing you see is the ‘Burgers‘ 4×4 printed tile. The logo itself is done wonderfully and again to have such a beautifully print element is great, it really finished the shack off so well.

Inside the shack are a few items and details, including tomato sauce and mustard bottles, a drinks bottle and even a party being grilled on the hot plate. There is room for the chef Minifigure to stand and cook. On the counter is a chip & pin card reader for customers to finish their purchase.

Popping the Burger shack into the Truck really pulls this set together and you get to see the finished product in all it’s glory. It looks absolutely awesome in this mode, it’ll slide into any Cityscape easily. For such a small set, that retails at £17.99, it really does pack a big punch.

When it’s parked up like this the sign can fold down to perfectly cover the serving hole, cool right? It looks neatly packed when the sign is down and a nice feature to include. Add all this, the shack, truck and printed parts and you have a set worthy of anyones money. Shall I say it? This could be set of the year!

The Minifigures:

This set comes complete with two Minifigure characters, that were named during our livestream build, it’s a thing followers and viewers like to do. So, without further a-do, introducing Jessie and Theo.

Theo is a very hip & trendy person, the denim jacket, vinyl motif tshirt and dark blue trousers, he really looks the part. The hair piece is great and even includes a Cochleah implant, as seen in a couple of Minifigures already, including the recent Dog Groomer from CMF Series 25.

Jessie is the Burger chef and Truck owner, she sports a rather cool apron that has the same ‘Burger‘ logo printed on it. The red cap with moulded hair piece is nice, the plain black trousers suit the rest of the outfit and the white gloves are a nice touch. You’ve got to have food hygiene, I wonder what this van has, hopefully a 5!

Overall the LEGO City Burger Truck (60404) set is a fun, slightly higher entry level set. It has great playability factors and is perfect for both young and old fans. City owners will want to add this, either at a park or in the City itself, to offer the residents a fast food option.

Both Minifigures are awesome, especially the chef. I can see myself grabbing a few more to staff a larger Burger restaurant MOC in the future.

Thank you for reading my review of the LEGO City Burger Truck (60404). I really appreciate your time and support.
