LEGO Creator 3-in-1 Modern Home (31153) & T.Rex (31151) Revealed! https://www.thebrickpost.com/news/lego-creator-3-in-1-modern-home-31153-t-rex-31151-revealed/ https://www.thebrickpost.com/news/lego-creator-3-in-1-modern-home-31153-t-rex-31151-revealed/#respond Thu, 02 May 2024 12:10:23 +0000 https://www.thebrickpost.com/?p=37940 Two new LEGO Creator 3-in-1 sets have been revealed and I must say the Modern Home (31153) looks awesome!

The Creator 3-in-1 theme has always been popular and produces some rather nice builds. The two revealed today are Modern Home (31153) and T.Rex (31151). Both sets look great and offer LEGO fans something completely different in terms of theme. The T-Rex (31154) can also be rebuilt into a Pteranodon or Triceratops. Whilst the Modern Home can be tranformed into other shaped houses along the same lines as the main build.

These will be released this Summer, watch this space for more updates. What do you think of these two sets? Let us know via the comments section.

LEGO Creator 3-in-1 Hamster Wheel (31155) Review https://www.thebrickpost.com/reviews/lego-creator-3-in-1-hamster-wheel-31155-review/ https://www.thebrickpost.com/reviews/lego-creator-3-in-1-hamster-wheel-31155-review/#respond Mon, 05 Feb 2024 13:31:32 +0000 https://www.thebrickpost.com/?p=35427 Hi everyone, thebrickbheanie here with another review. The LEGO Creator 3-in-1 Hamster Wheel (31155) set retails for £24.99 and has 416 pieces in total.

If you are an animal lover or have pets you will definitely love this set – you can build the hamster version with spinning wheel and slide for the hamsters to play on. The dog version that can zoom down on the ramp or the cat version with moving tail and ears, each variation is lovely but i went for building the hamster wheel version.

The set is colourful and the build is fun. It includes 2 hamsters, a playarea for them which is a house with a bell and wheel to run, it also has a water dispenser and food bowl for the hamsters of course. The construction of the wheel was a bit confusing but I managed to get the hang of it and it is definitely a great set for 8+.

Overall it is a great little set for the price and pieces, it has lots of playability and looks great alongside any LEGO collection.

Until next time – thebrickbheanie

Enjoy The Ride! LEGO Introduces New Carousel (40714)! https://www.thebrickpost.com/news/enjoy-the-ride-lego-introduces-new-carousel-40714/ https://www.thebrickpost.com/news/enjoy-the-ride-lego-introduces-new-carousel-40714/#respond Wed, 31 Jan 2024 15:29:31 +0000 https://www.thebrickpost.com/?p=35280 Without any rumour in the preceding weeks, a new Carousel Ride (40714) playset showed up on the LEGO website today. Based on the unthemed packaging it’s likely this will be a highly sought after LEGO store exclusive.

The ride will be available for the public on the 1st of March. Taking a ride will cost £21.99/€24.99/$24.95. But it’s unlimited spins once you’ve got your admission.

The set is marketed towards 8+ and has 232 pieces including 3 minifigures. This might seem like poor value for money but the parts selected for this set appear to be quite interesting and better value than PPP might suggest. New parts like a banana peel and ornamental fence are included and a 16×16 Dark Tan plate and blue bird are also not the cheapest parts to pick up from Bricklink or PAB. So this is a set to get quite excited about we think!

So what do you think of this set? Are you lining up to take a ride? Or are you looking for something more thrilling? Share your thoughts in the comments!

Retrospect – Our Sets Of The Year Ranked! https://www.thebrickpost.com/blog/retrospect-our-sets-of-the-year-ranked/ https://www.thebrickpost.com/blog/retrospect-our-sets-of-the-year-ranked/#respond Sun, 31 Dec 2023 12:14:40 +0000 https://www.thebrickpost.com/?p=34314 In 2023 we published 48 LEGO set reviews on The Brick Post. This is not nearly every set LEGO released of course, but it gives an impression of the sets we liked most.

Our review panel consisting of Greg, BanthaToys, Boom Brickz, Brick McBricksworth, Brick Shed, Lets_Brick_It and myself had a thorough look and these were our verdicts!

Only 2 sets managed to get a perfect 10/10 score. The batman 1992 polybag and the Friends Botanical Garden set. And not without reason of course. Based on reactions online the Botanical Garden appealed to a lot of people that usually don’t pay attention to Friends. A few sets like the Mighty Bowser came close however.

First Look At Four New Christmas LEGO Sets! https://www.thebrickpost.com/news/first-look-at-four-new-christmas-lego-sets/ https://www.thebrickpost.com/news/first-look-at-four-new-christmas-lego-sets/#respond Tue, 01 Aug 2023 18:38:12 +0000 https://www.thebrickpost.com/?p=29757 We have our somewhat official first look at four upcoming Christmas sets!

Earlier today four listings were added to LEGO.com but removed a little later suggesting they shouldn’t have been revealed just yet. Luckily we managed to get ahold of the images thanks to other sources.

Among the sets were two seasonal ones, Nutcracker (40640) and Gingerbread (40642) Ornaments, we speculate these to be available from 1st September.

LEGO Nutcracker (40640):

Shown on the box this is a 2-in-1 set where different versions can be built.

Gingerbread Ornaments (40642):

A set of buildable ornaments with plenty of options for customisation. A suitable family activity during Christmas I’d say.

Furthermore, the box art and contents for the LEGO City and LEGO Harry Potter Advent Calenders have been revealed. Both calenders have some fun and recolored parts and cool printed pieces. Based on previous years all of these sets will appear in store 1st September.

Don’t want to see what’s inylaide the Advent calendars? Don’t scroll any further!

LEGO Creator Land Rover Classic Defender (40650) Review https://www.thebrickpost.com/reviews/lego-creator-land-rover-classic-defender-40650-review/ https://www.thebrickpost.com/reviews/lego-creator-land-rover-classic-defender-40650-review/#respond Sat, 10 Jun 2023 08:34:24 +0000 https://www.thebrickpost.com/?p=28206 The 1st of June brought with it a plethora of cool LEGO sets, some big and some small. These smaller sets sometimes get forgotten but there one one in particular we just have to have, the LEGO Creator Land Rover Classic Defender (40650)!

Coming in a £13.49/$14. 99 and consisting of just 150 pieces the part to price ratio isn’t great, but this little set looks great and is Minifigure scale. Follow us as we talk you through how the build went and what we think below.

The Box & Contents:

The box is small, similar to that of cheaper £8.99 ranged sets, however the artwork is still great and in keeping with the LEGO Creator line.

In the background are, what I presume to be, computer generated Mountains & Trees, they have a familiar retro-game style to that is budget games. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing, it may have made sense to use more realistic scenery, then again it’s the set that needs to be shown off so I understand that.

On the back you’ll find a picture of the Minifigure stood outside next to the vehicle, along with a diagram of have to remove the roof. There is also an image of the larger LEGO Land Rover Classic Defender 90 (10317) set, which I may now have to get to compliment this smaller one.

Inside the box you get the usual goodies, bags filled with LEGO, an instruction manual, single sticker sheet and a loose dark grey plate.

The Build:

Being a small build the set just flies by, before you know it you’re done!

That doesn’t mean it’s a bad build, far from it. It’s put together in reasonably the same way as most LEGO vehicles, starting with a long plate for the base, build up the sides, add wheel arches, windows and finally the roof.

The front grille is made separately and then attached, using SNOT (studs not on top) techniques to get the required effect and finish. Here we also use the only printed parts in the whole set. Two identical prints are used along with 1×1 round transparent tiles to add headlight detailing. The prints are crisp and done well, the solid block of colour does add to the overall aesthetic of the vehicle, plus I would hate to apply stickers to a jumper tile.

On the very same front grille we also add the only sticker in the set, the Defender grille detailing. The sticker is cool as it has the official Land Rover and Defender logos, making the vehicle look even better!

Placing the sticker is easy as it goes straight onto a 2×3 tile. I just use my hands/fingers to place it, but if you’re a little worried about getting it perfect please consider using a Brick Separator, which usually come in larger sets.

The bonnet is also done well, using a simple but effect design of layering tiles and plates to create the basic but iconic shape of a Land Rover.

There aren’t any doors but when has there ever been doors in these smaller vehicle sets? This is ok though, as the Minifigure can be slot inside by removing the roof section. Although it is a very tight squeeze, I find removing the windscreen allows easier access.

On the roof itself you’ll find a rack and not much else. In the larger LEGO Land Rover Classic Defender 90 (10317) set there are a plethora of accessories in and hanging from the roof rack. Making your own travel accessories is the way to go here, perhaps I’ll add a few myself one-day.

Overall this little Land Rover is great, the fact that it’s Minifigure scale makes it so much better. Other vehicles in the LEGO Creator range have been either slightly smaller or bigger in scale and just don’t like right. Thanks tp LEGO for making something us Minifigure lovers wanted, a scaled vehicle!

The Minifigure:

The Minifigure is a nice addition too, this one in particular has a rather fetching Pineapple print top. The rest of the Minifigure is a little lacklustre with plain beige legs yellow arms & hands and a generic head and hair piece.

Sadly this isn’t an exclusive Minifigure as it also comes in a City set, LEGO Car Wash Set (60362), which was released on the same day.

The character is good but I feel is lacking that Land Rover feel, the lifestyle that usually goes with owning such a vehicle. In my personal opinion adding a backpack, perhaps a matching Pineapple print one, would have given this character more life?

Do you have this set? What do you think of it? Would you add anything? Please let us know via the comments section below.
