LEGO Ideas ‘Build From The Heart’ Building Contest! https://www.thebrickpost.com/news/lego-ideas-build-from-the-heart-building-contest/ https://www.thebrickpost.com/news/lego-ideas-build-from-the-heart-building-contest/#respond Tue, 10 Sep 2024 15:16:37 +0000 https://www.thebrickpost.com/?p=41930 LEGO Ideas has introduced a brand new building contest, Build from the Heart, with the winning model being turned into an official LEGO Ideas set!

The challenge is centred around Valentine’s Day and requires you to create something that corresponds with that day. Using a maximum of 1,000 LEGO elements, you have until 15th October to get your entries in. For some reason flowers can’t be used as the main part of the build, which is strange as that’s what I most associate with the day.

Not only will the winning entry be made into a real LEGO Ideas purchasable set, you’ll also bag the following goodies:

  • 1% of the total net sales of the product
  • 10 complimentary copies of your LEGO Ideas set
  • Credit and bio in set materials as the LEGO Ideas Fan Designer
  • 21345 Polaroid OneStep SX-70 Camera
  • 21346 Family Tree
  • 21347 London Telephone Box
  • 10313 Wildflower Bouquet
  • 10328 the Rose Bouquet

Read more about the new contest here.

Official details:

Valentine’s Day isn’t just about roses and chocolates – it’s a chance to get creative and put your own twist on love, friendship, or maybe even a bit of self-care. We’re inviting you to build something that represents your take on this day, whether it’s a symbol of love, a message from the heart, a sweet treat for your special one or a completely unexpected take on what makes this day special to you. Let your heart and imagination lead the way.

Your submissions must follow the Product Idea guidelines, with the following exceptions to those rules:

  • A maximum of 1,000 LEGO Elements.
  • While we love flowers, flower bouquets, and flowerpots are not allowed as the main build but can be included as decorations.
  • Your submission must be either entirely new creations or expired Product Ideas. Product Ideas that are or were active during the intake of this Challenge will not be accepted.
  • No IP references.

A judging panel consisting of members of the LEGO Ideas Review Board will select all the entries that participate in a Fan Vote to decide the winning submission.

You may submit as many submissions as you like, however, only one submission per creator will be considered for the Fan Vote.

All entries that reach the Fan Vote phase could be a new LEGO Ideas Product!

For full details on what the judges are looking for, see the ‘Judging’ section of this contest page.

A maximum of five (5) entries will be part of the fan vote following the judging process.

The winning entry in the Fan Vote will be compensated as a Product Idea prize winner as outlined in the Product Idea guidelines and Terms of Service. Meaning, they will receive the following:

  • 1% of the total net sales of the product
  • 10 complimentary copies of your LEGO Ideas set
  • Credit and bio in set materials as the LEGO Ideas Fan Designer

It’s time for a hefty dose of nostalgia as we announce the winners from our epic 80s challenge!

Earlier in the year we launched our 80s-themed challenge ‘If we could turn back time’ and were blown away by all the amazing ‘292’ submissions!  There was everything you could possibly imagine, from Bob Ross and the Blues Brothers to Inspector Gadget and Garfield. We were spoilt for choice with a wide selection of 80s characters, movies, moments, and memorabilia! In fact, the nostalgia was so strong the mullet finally came back into fashion!

We then asked you all to cast your votes for your favourite designs, in fact, the lineup was so impressive we decided it to run two rounds of voting so we could have two winners!

After a false start due to the LEGO Ideas team choosing two designs by the same creator, the fan vote to pick the first of two sets has reopened. The submission that was forfeited to make way for the new contender was the Goonies inspired build. Replacing it is based on Disney’s Honey I Shruck the Kids. I must say this one looks great with the large LEGO Brick stick out the ground. It joins the other four sets, E.T., Karate Kid, Gremlins, and Beetlejuice.

Details have also been shared regarding the second fan vote, which will see five additional 80’s-inspired sets pitted against each other to win the ultimate prize, the ideas made into real and purchasable LEGO Ideas sets. Results of the first fan vote will be revealed 14th June, so watch this space.
