The project is well executed and definitely looks the part. Choosing to portray this particular scene is a great idea as it was so action-packed and had audiences on the edge of their seats. The remote-controlled lawnmower whizzing around the garden with the shrunken kids running for their lives, was truly a fantasy piece of cinema.

The build features a portion of the lawn being mowed as the lawnmower makes its way towards the kids, who during the past night had found a safe haven, sleeping in the inside of a blue brick! – TangTaizong

The build captures that moment and pulls it’s off well, it even has a giant blue LEGO brick wedged in the ground. The brick-built grass standing tall, the dirt and random particles, the lawnmower coming in fast ad of course the Minifigures.

The set includes the four main characters, Amy, Nick, Little Russel and Ronald. It also comes with Tom, the kid next door, who was asked to mow their lawn. Tom’s Minifigure can be seen standing on the lawnmower with controller in-hand, going about his chores seemingly unaware of what is really happening. The four kids Minifigures look awesome and really go like the stars of the movie, of course in LEGO form.

What I like most about this idea is that it makes for both a great playset for younger fans and the perfect shelf sitter for older fans. This film from 1989 brings back so many fond memories, sitting down and watching this as a child was spectacular, seeing these shrunken kids trying to get back home and the epic adventure doing so.

If LEGO were to make this then I’d be first in-line to grab one, it would not only be sat pride of place in my display but would be used for many photo opportunities with the included Minifigures and of course my own. The lawnmower can come away from the rest of the set and can be display without it, or visa-versa, if you just wanted the giant LEGO brick, the grass and the kids.

overall the idea and execution is perfect, you can’t ask for anything more from a build that has it all. We would like to wish TangTaizong the best of luck in gaining the required 10k support. LEGO Ideas Feature: The Holiday – Rosehill Cottage By Martin_Studio https://www.thebrickpost.com/lego-ideas/lego-ideas-feature-the-holiday-rosehill-cottage-by-martin_studio/ https://www.thebrickpost.com/lego-ideas/lego-ideas-feature-the-holiday-rosehill-cottage-by-martin_studio/#respond Sat, 23 Nov 2024 23:03:49 +0000 https://www.thebrickpost.com/?p=44310 It’s almost the season to start working through the festive film collection before the big day hits, Christmas. There are some cracking movies to watch and get you in the spirit, some are right on the nose whilst others are more subtle, warm and cosy. Today’s LEGO Ideas feature is based on one such movie, a rom-com that not only hits the spot and makes you feel warm, it also translates well into LEGO form.

Introducing The Holiday: Rosehill Cottage!

Step into the warm and charming world of The Holiday with this beautifully crafted LEGO recreation of Rosehill Cottage, Iris’s cozy countryside home. – Martin_Studio

Created by fan designer Martin_Studio, the build is one of the homes that gets swapped during the movie. The two main characters, played by Kate Winslet and Cameron Diaz, long for a change and switch houses for the holidays, one from the glamorous US with a very contemporary mansion and the other from the UK who has a quaint cottage. It is the latter that has been portrayed here in LEGO bricks and it looks absolutely stunning.

The front of the Cottage is perfect and most definitely looks the part, with the masonry & soft-curved bricks, the pale blue windows, green door and snowy roof. I love hose this looks and that it stays true to the movie, obviously some elements are difficult to make out of LEGO but as quaint village Cottages go this is an awesome take on it.

With an open back style, just like the LEGO Winter Village Collection Holiday Main Street (10308) set, you can see into the building without anything to open or remove. Some fans like this style whilst others don’t, for me personally I’d rather have a full-on building with a front and back wall, enclosing it all. As a LEGO Ideas submission it deserves to be a standalone Cottage and more of a display piece rather than a playset.

Inside are a ton of details that reference the movie, from the kitchen area and where Kate Winslet character works, to bedroom and living room where more iconic scenes happen. It’s great to see small but extremely detailed builds inside a set of this size, it looks cramped but in a good way, it is a quaint Cottage after all.

The cottage features two floors. On the ground floor, I’ve recreated the living room and kitchen, where most of the action in the cottage takes place. This includes the memorable scene where Amanda first meets Graham, as well as the iconic moment when Iris speaks to Amanda on her laptop to arrange the house swap. – Martin_Studio

There are four Minifigures included in the submission, there are Amanda (Cameron Diaz), Graham (Jude Law), Iris (Kate Winslet) and Miles (Jack Black). Each Minifigure looks like their on-screen counterpart, complete with accessories that help paint the picture that a House swap is in progress.

In true LEGO style, the designer has made the wall and gate a separate side-build. Keeping the same accent colours as the Cottage, blues and greens, the small build looks great and is a welcomed part of the submission. It also comes with the name of the residence, Rosehill Cottage, on the gate itself. It wouldn’t be a picturesque British scene without Snow covering the wall and Cottage, so the added white LEGO elements work extremely well.

Overall the idea is outstanding, it looks the part, stays true to movies aesthetic and would make for an awesome LEGO set. We would like to wish Martin_Studio the best of luck in gaining the required 10k support. If you like the look of this idea and would like to give your support, please use the links below. LEGO Ideas Feature: House Makeover By MaMiMo https://www.thebrickpost.com/lego-ideas/lego-ideas-feature-house-makeover-by-mamimo/ https://www.thebrickpost.com/lego-ideas/lego-ideas-feature-house-makeover-by-mamimo/#respond Sat, 16 Nov 2024 16:08:32 +0000 https://www.thebrickpost.com/?p=44010 This week’s LEGO Ideas feature is a lovely Townhouse, it not only looks the part but also fills a gap in the LEGO modular market of where Minifigures live!

With the rumours of the next official LEGO Modular Building being a couple of Townhouses, I thought it was extremely apt to showcase this one. The difference with MaMiMo‘s creation is that it’s partly through a makeover and comes complete with a crane, scaffolding and a decorating team.

Introducing House Makeover by MaMiMo.

Many houses have been build by Lego fans over the years. And some are getting a bit older. Time to renovate! – MaMiMo

From the outside the house design is a very typical American one, this is coming from a British guy that has seen a lot of US movies and TV shows. The dark red colour scheme with the white accents work so well and really pop when applied in brick form, the porch really hits the spot for me. Being a three storey building and modular in design, the floors do come apart to allow you access.

Also outside are a handful of side builds that tie into the whole makeover and renovation aspect of the set. There is a crane to lift heavy materials to the higher floors, scaffolding for the construction workers to purch on and work, a small trailer and a portable toilet.

It’s so refreshing to see a design like this on LEGO Ideas and a privilege to share it with you here on The Brick Post. I appreciate what goes into a build like this and what elements you need to include in order to make it structurally sound. Incorporating all the added architecture details too must have taken a while to perfect, which is why this set really shines, the time and care taken is apparent, even in digital builds.

This build looks great from every angle, front-on, side profile and from above. A set that comes to life more than most official LEGO sets we’ve got over the years, there’s a Minifigure up a ladder fixing the roof, the Architect discussing plans with the foreman and general workers keeping themselves busy.

Unfortunately there aren’t any interior shots but that’s fine, we can imagine what this stunning house must look like inside. Perhaps it’s total gutted and ready for new furniture due to the renovations. Of the latter is the case then I think this adds to the idea, we have freeroam to create our dream house!

Overall the build looks amazing and I’d love to have it join my collection, the talent needed to execute these ideas we feature is impressive and we would like to wish MaMiMo the best of luck in gaining the required 10k support. LEGO Ideas Feature: Frame Houses By YellowBox777 https://www.thebrickpost.com/lego-ideas/lego-ideas-feature-frame-houses-by-yellowbox777/ https://www.thebrickpost.com/lego-ideas/lego-ideas-feature-frame-houses-by-yellowbox777/#respond Sat, 02 Nov 2024 12:18:25 +0000 https://www.thebrickpost.com/?p=43571 This week’s LEGO Ideas feature is not one but two Frame Houses By the very talented YellowBox777!

I thought showcasing both of the Frame House builds would best suit this feature as they are alike in the sense that they are both frames and quaint little buildings. Since being a picture framer I can appreciate a good frame and the simple yet contemporary style a frame adds to a picture, or in this case a brick-built LEGO house.

Up first is the Autumn Green House, which features a small but pleasant cottage-style build. The olive green accent on the roof and door awning look amazing and really pop against the white and burgundy. Deciding to tile the background in grey is also a good choice, as that particular shade it very contemporary when such bold colours are used in the foreground.

As a kind of ‘play‘ feature, the front of the building can be removed, giving you access to the inside and the many details within.

The other design, Bakery Cafe House, is just as spectacular and as you can see from the image above it is slightly taller, making the whole frame longer. The architecture on this building is also nice with a trading shop window & entrance along with the brickwork on the storey above, this two-tone style is great and always looks pleasing to the eye.

Again the front can be removed to reveal the highly detailed interior, this time gesturing all the sweet treats & pastries and the coffee shop on the first floor. A proper quaint village shop, just like the ones I used to visit most Sunday’s here in the UK.

Both builds look amazing and I’d love to have either hung on my wall, the talent needed to execute these ideas is impressive and We would like to wish YellowBox777 the best of luck in gaining the required 10k support. LEGO Ideas Feature: The Grinch’s House By Mric76 https://www.thebrickpost.com/lego-ideas/lego-ideas-feature-the-grinchs-house-by-mric76/ https://www.thebrickpost.com/lego-ideas/lego-ideas-feature-the-grinchs-house-by-mric76/#respond Sun, 22 Sep 2024 16:33:34 +0000 https://www.thebrickpost.com/?p=42331 I know, I know, it’s a bit early to showcase a Christmas themed idea, but come on, it’s the Grinch. He himself despises the holiday season, so featuring this idea is totally fine and not at all out of character, plus it’s brilliantly designed and executed!

The Grinch’s House by Mric76 is both the perfect play set for younger fans and the shelf sitter older fans need in their collection. The idea is based on the Grinch’s House, which is essentially a cave inside a Mountain. It over looks Whoville, he used to reside there when he was younger but since his heart shrank two sizes too small he hates the townsfolk and Christmas.

The Grinch, whose very name makes the Whos tremble, lives as a recluse in a cave…

The outside of the cave is done using grey ropes at different angles to produce a natural and realistic look. Covered in snow with a few opening on both levels, it makes for a very interesting piece to loon at, with the green door, hatch and pipe.

The grinch’s house has several easter eggs such as the heart scanner, the spring bed, the musical monkey and many others that we find in the film.

Spin the set around at you see a whole lot more going on and some play features jump straight out at you. All the Easter Eggs and references that you can spot are taken from the film and work so well in brick-built form, from the heart scanner, spring bed and the musical monkey. It will be a difficult decision on which side to display that’s for sure.

Included in the idea are three Minifigures, Grinch, Grinch as Santa Claus and Cindy Lou Who. All three look amazing and from their designs and prints to the outfits they’re wearing. My personal favourite is the Grinch dressed as Santa Claus. Cindy Lou Who’s cape and skirt are fabric and look great, it would be great if LEGO made more fabric pieces especially with different designs.

There are a ton of other treats to feast your eyes on so why not head over to the official page and look for yourself? Whilst you’re there please hit the all important support button to help make this set become a reality!

LEGO Ideas Feature: The Last Starfighter By TheBrickBang https://www.thebrickpost.com/lego-ideas/lego-ideas-feature-the-last-starfighter-by-thebrickbang/ https://www.thebrickpost.com/lego-ideas/lego-ideas-feature-the-last-starfighter-by-thebrickbang/#comments Sat, 07 Sep 2024 16:52:47 +0000 https://www.thebrickpost.com/?p=41870 This week’s LEGO Ideas Feature is brought to you by TheBrickBang and their incredibly retro hark back to the 80’s with The Last Starfighter!

I can’t believe this project has passed me by, it only has 31 days left (at the time of publishing this article) and I’m afraid it won’t make the next milestone. Being a massive fan of the movie, which I saw when I was a child, it gripped me in a way that I had never experienced before, or since to be perfectly honest. It follows Alex Rogan, an expert video game player who lives in a trailer park and has no promising future. One day he meets Centauri, an alien ranger, who wants to recruit him as a Starfighter pilot – and the rest is history as they say.

The creator has done an amazing job in translating both the characters into Minifigure form and the Gunstar One ship out of LEGO bricks. From the pointy cockpit to the bulky engines and weapons at the back, the ship looks incredible and one I would totally love to have on display in my collection.

Being born the same year this movie released, 1984, I obviously didn’t watch it until later in life, but that doesn’t mean I love it even less. I can still remember a good chunk of the movie and some of the lines, it’s very much relevant now as it was when I first saw it, being a big gaming fan too it means even more to me. Yes, I’ve thought the same would happen to me if I played my best!

The Last Starfighter tells the story of a trailer-park teen, Alex Rogan, who gets recruited by the Star League (an alien defense force) to defend Rylos and “the Frontier” against Xur and the Ko-Dan Armada.

The Minifigures are awesome and two I’d love to have in my collection. TheBrickBang has done a great job it capturing both the characters and their retro Space suits, with the pastel blue underlay, the tubes and the Starfighters badge. The heads look spot in too, although Alex has a yellow head and a somewhat generic expression. Grig, Alex’s co-pilot, looks spot on with his Alien face and matching Space suit, it makes me want to have this as a real set even more!

Why should LEGO create The Last Starfighter (not just 80s nostalgia)
The Last Starfighter was the first film to incorporate groundbreaking CGI effects rather than traditional physical models. Rendering the 25 minutes of space shots took over 2 years on a CRAY supercomputer.

We would like to wish TheBrickBang the best of luck in gaining the required 10k support. If you like the look of this idea and would like to give your support, please use the links below. Registration is free to LEGO Ideas and only takes a minute, so head over there now and do your part!

LEGO Ideas Feature: The Moon Lunar Landscape By SharkyBricks https://www.thebrickpost.com/lego-ideas/lego-ideas-feature-the-moon-lunar-landscape-by-sharkybricks/ https://www.thebrickpost.com/lego-ideas/lego-ideas-feature-the-moon-lunar-landscape-by-sharkybricks/#respond Sat, 10 Aug 2024 09:10:07 +0000 https://www.thebrickpost.com/?p=41027 The Moon, a fascinating subject in its own right, one of which makes for great LEGO projects, including this week’s LEGO Ideas Feature by Sharkybricks!

The idea, The Moon: Lunar Landscape, by 10k Club Member Sharkybricks is a stunning art piece that would look great in most displays and will most certainly be a conversation started. It features a full Moon as the main subject, complete with different layers, brick-built crators and greebling that makes the whole idea come together and look almost realistic.

This 2205-piece Lego Art space poster “The Moon: Lunar Landscape”, celebrates the beauty and topography of the Moon. – Sharkybricks

The use of white and grey is a perfect contrast to show the many details of the Moon, add the two other shades of grey into the mix and you have an almost 3D look, with the multiple layers and LEGO parts protruding from it.

Underneath the full Moon are a few of the different phases it cycles through, this is one of my favourite parts of the build, having the extra information and details like this really take it to the next level. There is also a view from the Moon, where a tiny Earth can be seen, the inclusion of this is amazing.

Pop a thin white tiled frame around it and your have a modern piece of art that I personally would love to own. LEGO should definitely take note and once this idea makes it through review and becomes a purchasable set, it will go perfectly with previous Moon and Space sets.

The submission has already gain over 2,400 supporters and is growing rapidly. If you like the look of this build please support it, it needs to reach 10,000 to make it to the review stage, so every vote counts. Read more about it below and what we think of it, in our weekly LEGO Ideas Feature.

As mentioned above, the Moai statues are found on Easter Island, some stand a staggering 4 metres tall and weigh around 12.5 tons – luckily the LEGO equivalents don’t match those proportions. They do however take a lot of their design, shape, curves and awesomeness from the rock carvings. Using light grey pieces to match the rock colours, the angled back heads with giant features look great.

In a world where imagination meets reality, a fantastic set of bricks brings to life the enigmatic moai statues of Rapa Nui. – 2PPL

Each one can be removed from the display plinth and even rotated by the looks of it (photo above). On the plinth itself there are printed tiles that say what the stones are and the location to where they are in the form of longitude and latitude.

Reaching the 100 and 1000 supporter milestones, the creator has unveiled 3 Minifigures that would also come with the set. Rody, Joberto and an Easter Island native

Rody, with his keen eye for detail, deciphered ancient symbols etched into the moai. Joberto, ever the strategist, plotted their course through dense jungles and treacherous cliffs. – 2PPL

I can see this set being popular with most LEGO fans as it can be both played with and displayed nicely on a shelf. The Minifigures are a nice additional touch and look awesome against the backdrop of the Moai stones.

LEGO Ideas Feature: Bob Ross – The Joy Of Painting By BrickAbe https://www.thebrickpost.com/lego-ideas/lego-ideas-feature-bob-ross-the-joy-of-painting-by-brickabe/ https://www.thebrickpost.com/lego-ideas/lego-ideas-feature-bob-ross-the-joy-of-painting-by-brickabe/#respond Sun, 07 Jul 2024 09:27:11 +0000 https://www.thebrickpost.com/?p=39996 LEGO Art has really taken off over the last couple of years with the now retired DOTS theme and the aptly named Art sets. From Batman to Van Gogh, LEGO Art is a big money maker, so expanding on that any way they can is a must. This week’s LEGO Ideas Feature is by BrickAbe and their amazingly vibrant Bob Ross: The Joy of Painting!

The design is similar to previous LEGO Art set and can be hung on the wall or stood on a shelf/desk. The 3D aspect is amazing with the cabin, trees, mountains and steps all jutting out of the brick-built canvas. The colours used are bright are really make the art pop, I like the contrast between the grey mountains in the background and the flowers at the front.

The 80s gave birth to many popular movies and shows, but none have had the same lasting impact as Bob Ross’ The Joy of Painting. The show has truly survived the test of time and is more popular than ever! – BrickAbe

There’s a space for the man himself to sit, on a log by the river. Yes a Bob Ross Minifigure is included and comes in a small brick-built TV, which is where he is most famous from. The Minifigure looks spot on and has all the main ‘Bob Ross’ traits, including his permed hair, just like the Van Gogh Minifigure this woo uld make an excellent addition to the collection.

On the back is a similar design to previous Art sets, with the ability to hang or stand as you see fit. Layered plates and other elements make should make the whole thing sturdy, the added parts on the front will also bulk it out.

We would like to wish BrickAbe the best of luck in gaining the required 10k support. If you like the look of this idea and would like to give your support, please use the links below. Registration is free to LEGO Ideas and only takes a minute, so head over there now and do your part!
