Lights, Camera… Build!

The LEGO Group and Polaroid launch the new LEGO® IDEAS: Polaroid OneStep Camera for photography aficionados and LEGO builders everywhere!

15th December 2023: – The LEGO Group and Polaroid has today unveiled the new LEGO® IDEAS: Polaroid OneStep SX-70 Camera. Originally conceived by LEGO fan Marc a.k.a. Minibrick Productions (@minibrickYT), bringing Polaroid’s iconic camera to life in LEGO brick form.

Launching January 1 2024, the LEGO IDEAS: Polaroid OneStep Camera set brings a true icon of photography to the LEGO IDEAS range and is the 53rd product from the fan-sourced platform.

The model is made up of 516 pieces and includes many of the design features that made the original OneStep Camera so popular amongst fans, captured in a unique display model with functional features. Also included alongside the camera is a buildable Polaroid Time-Zero Land Film pack and three LEGO Polaroid illustrated ‘photos’.

The camera features a working viewfinder, the iconic Color Spectrum, exposure compensation dial and a shutter button so you even can load and eject the illustrated photos. Also included is an opening film door to load LEGO Polaroid Photos in.

Talking about his inspiration for the design, Marc a.k.a. Minibrick Productions said: “The OneStep took a little over a month from design to completion. I actually started designing it while on vacation in France since I couldn’t wait to build it […] I’ve always loved the design of the Polaroid OneStep. It’s incredibly iconic and shows up everywhere!”

To mark the launch of the LEGO IDEAS: Polaroid OneStep Camera, the LEGO Group created an unconventional marketing campaign that highlights the one key feature the product lacks: functionality. This photography-led campaign for a non-functioning camera includes a ‘NOT SHOT ON LEGO Polaroid Camera’ sticker being slapped across photos in surprising places – subtly making every photo ever taken, a part of the campaign.

The original Polaroid OneStep Camera was released in 1977 and quickly became a huge hit with photographers. The camera brought instant photography to many households across the world, allowing people to develop photographs from their very hands.

The LEGO® IDEAS: Polaroid OneStep Camera will be available to pre-order from December 15 and in stores globally from January 1at the recommended retail price of $79.99 / €79.99 / £69.99.

LEGO Ideas Sets Still To Come! https://www.thebrickpost.com/news/lego-ideas-sets-still-to-come/ https://www.thebrickpost.com/news/lego-ideas-sets-still-to-come/#respond Mon, 20 Feb 2023 12:01:03 +0000 https://www.thebrickpost.com/?p=25079 As I’ve said many times before the LEGO Ideas platform is a great way to showcase your talents and builds, with the added possibility of having your idea tranformed into an official LEGO product, it’s most builders dreams!

We’ve had countless LEGO Ideas over the years and there’s no sign of stopping, this year we’ve already had the A-Frame Cabin (21338), which will shortly be joined by the second set of the year, the highly anticipated BTS Dynamite (21339) set.

Thankfully it doesn’t stop there, with a plethora of ideas still in the works and due to arrive later this year and beyond. They include some excellent builds and themes, including one GWP (gift with purchase) set and for the first time a series of Pick-a-Brick mini models, one of which was designed by our good friend Martin from Boom Brickz!

Below you’ll find a handy refresher list of what LEGO Ideas still has up their sleeve.

LEGO Ideas First 2022 Review Stage Results Announced! https://www.thebrickpost.com/news/lego-ideas-first-2022-review-stage-results-announced/ https://www.thebrickpost.com/news/lego-ideas-first-2022-review-stage-results-announced/#comments Tue, 25 Oct 2022 15:12:18 +0000 https://www.thebrickpost.com/?p=22187 LEGO Ideas have announced four winners of the First 2022 Review Stage!

Out of a possible 39 projects, 4 have been chosen, this beats previous reviews stages where only 1 or 2 have been picked. This does mean that 35 other projects were rejected, which will disappoint fans who voted for those particular entries.

LEGO will now work on the Second 2022 Review Stage, where a whopping 51 projects are in the running.

Please see below which 4 ideas made it through to the next stage:

LEGO Insects by hachiroku24

A huge congratulations to Fan Designer José María (aka hachiroku24). José María has hit a homerun with his small builds inspired by 5 different insects found around the world. He has captured the colours, shapes and overall details so well that it’s hard to tell they are brick-built! We think they will be a great way to bring a piece of nature into your home without bugging you!

The Orient Express, a Legendary Train by LEt.sGO

Big congratulations to Fan Designer Thomas Lajon (aka LEt.sGO). We’re so excited to finally give our fans a train set! There are a few trains as famous as the Orient Express but none of them can rival the elegance, luxury and history that comes with it. Thomas has poured a lot of love into capturing the details from the locomotive and coal car to the restaurant car to make sure this is the perfect tribute to such a legendary train. It’s a special privilege to bring this creation to life in LEGO bricks!

Tales of the Space Age by john_carter

A huge congratulations to our first Polish Fan Designer Jan Woźnica (aka john_carter). Jan’s 3-piece product idea intrigued our review board and we’re certain it also caught the fascination of the community overall. He’s managed to create stunning poster style sci-fi scenes filled with action and serenity, showing you don’t need a lot of bricks or loads of details to create awe-inspiring LEGO models.

Polaroid OneStep SX-70 by inibrick Productions

A huge congratulations to Fan Designer Marc (aka Minibrick Productions) for being selected with his incredible tribute to the iconic Polaroid OneStep SX-70 camera. Using his mechanical engineering background, Marc not only made this creation look flawless but also added hidden functionality that mimics the development of film as it slides out of the camera. We can’t wait to see the memories created with this Polaroid camera.
