Taking a look back at all the classic sets, I guess you could call them vintage or retro, we can see LEGO has come along way. Somethings have stayed roughly the same whilst others have changed drastically and even fizzled out completely. Thankfully though, LEGO are slowly but surely giving us fans what we want by revisiting some favourites, like the recent Lion Knight’s Castle, Space Galaxy Explorer, Eldorado Fortress and some gift with purchase sets, to name a few.

Whilst researching this topic, I came across so many older sets that I’ve never seen before. Perhaps the most appealing to me personally is the vast amount of City-style sets, including Fire stations, Dock yards, Petrol stations and so much more. It got me thinking that surely some are worthy of a modern LEGO remake, but which ones?

So my question for you is which classic LEGO sets deserve a modern remake? Discuss below or head over to our Instagram channel where these questions really take off. @thebrickpost

New Figs On The Block: Unicorn Knight, Skeleton Pirate, Beach Guy and More! https://www.thebrickpost.com/news/new-figs-on-the-block-unicorn-knight-skeleton-pirate-beach-guy-and-more/ https://www.thebrickpost.com/news/new-figs-on-the-block-unicorn-knight-skeleton-pirate-beach-guy-and-more/#respond Sun, 02 Apr 2023 13:27:20 +0000 https://www.thebrickpost.com/?p=26021 Brand new Minifigure characters have started showing up at BaM (build a minifigure) Stations Worldwide and with them an eclectic mix of new parts. The BaM station is fast becoming the place to grab these exciting LEGO characters and on quite a regular basis too!

The last lot that were available were again a mixture of styles & themes, including the Orange Brick Guy, Rock Star, Fisherman, Panda Guy and More, click here for a quick refresher.

Thankfully my local store isn’t too far and I can pop in a few times during the month to check if new parts have been added, also joining several LEGO related Facebook Groups help with keeping up-to-date with what is available. The new BaM characters have been released and are available in most stores Worldwide. We have given them random and made-up names so it’s easier to identify them, also the accessories can be switched for any you like. Here is a closer look at them:

Unicorn Knight:

  • New Unicorn head
  • Lion Knight torso
  • Lion Knight Shield

Ice Cream Guy:

  • Blue Ice Cream Head/Hair
  • Blue torso with Brown arms
  • Transparent Blue Ice Lolly

Beach Guy:

  • Brown wavey hair
  • Beach ready torso
  • Teal shorts
  • Silver/Chrome fish

Skeleton Pirate:

  • New Skeleton torso, double-sided
  • Black sword
  • Pirate hat

Gamer Girl:

  • New skirt
  • Console controller
  • Rock Tour torso

Lion Knight:

  • Lion Knight torso
  • Lion Knights shield
  • Helmet

As you can see there have been quite a few characters added to the BaM lineup, with the Unicorn Knight being perhaps the most popular and sought-after, especially the torso and shield. As with all things LEGO nothing is set in stone, all the parts above can be swapped for entirely different bits. Genders can be switched, colour combinations can be whatever you make them, and accessories can be random. Remember to have fun and enjoy your LEGO experience.

If you like the look of these characters they are available now at most Certified LEGO Stores, although I would recommend phoning ahead to confirm before heading in and even getting a pack or two put by for you to avoid disappointment. You can either make them yourself or some stores conveniently bundle them into packs and are often located near the till area.

Let us know in the comments what you think of these new Minifigures and whether you collect them or not, we love hearing from you.

New Figs on the Block: The Knights of BaM! https://www.thebrickpost.com/news/new-figs-on-the-block-the-knights-of-bam/ https://www.thebrickpost.com/news/new-figs-on-the-block-the-knights-of-bam/#respond Sat, 07 May 2022 15:46:55 +0000 https://www.thebrickpost.com/?p=18394 The BaM (build a minifigure) Station has seen quite a significant update as a whole host of new parts have been added, including Castle elements!

The last lot that were available, around Valentines Day, featured a hot-pink Bear, Fairy girl, and Chick.

We were lucky enough to grab a few packs of Knights along with a Wizard and Princess/Queen Minifigure.

Starting with the Knight Minifigure we can instantly see a recognisable piece, the shield, which comes complete with the Black Falcon crest printed on its face. This alone attracts fans as it will be used in kitting out armies of Knights within that faction.

That’s not the main draw to the BaM Station though, oh no, the LEGO community is going mad for a new printed torso that so far is an exclusive and hasn’t been seen before, ever!

On the back we see once again the Black Falcon crest, which is very exciting in itself as we usually see it on plain blue torsos. This particular Knight is sporting a rather fetching red Cape, upon when the Black Falcon crest sits, this fastens around the neck on the front of the torso. We can see the chain mail clearly here as more is on show, I must say the design and printing is superb and is very crisp.

Not knowing to much about the whole LEGO Castle sets and the many Knight factions I had to seek some expert advice, this is where ClassicStyleCastle came to the rescue and shed a little bit of light on the matter at hand.

The main association between this new torso and the Black Falcon faction is made with the shield element being found at the BaM Station at the exact same time. Many fans, including myself, have just gone with that and made the connection ourselves, now this could be true and most likely are a faction within the Black Falcons themselves, as in some countries they were simply known as the Eagle faction. However at the end of the day we simply just don’t know and until LEGO give us official confirmation we can only speculate, they could even be used in the upcoming LEGO 90th Anniversary Castle set!

Please enjoy the images below of the new Knight Minifigures found in-store now (please check with your local store before heading in).

Other Castle style Minifigures available via the BaM Station consist of a Wizard and a Princess /Queen.

These are both done to a very high standard in terms of design and printing. The Wizard in particular looks like it could be an updated version of Majisto, who was first seen in 1993.

As you can see the coin pouch is there and so is the pointy hat, although the new Wizard doesn’t have a beard piece is does have an incredible pair of sideburns!

In then pre-picked packs, done so by Store members, they have given him an Owl as the accessory, this feels very apt and in keeping with how Wizards are portrayed in books and films.

The Princess/Queen Minifigure is just as nice as the others and makes for a great character to include in a Castle selection.

The hair piece and crown suits the Minifigure well and of course being part of the BaM Station you can swap any of the parts out and create an entirely different character.

It could just be me but I see a Ninja throwing star around her neck, which I don’t think a member of Royalty would have. It would suit a Ninjago character really well along with the bright pink dress, teal accents, and Koi carp dotted around her outfit.

Personally speak I’m not a big fan of those Crowns, they just don’t sit well and look kind of cheap. A proper moulded Crown hair piece is needed, similar to that of the LEGO Wonder Woman Minifigure.

These Minifigures have been showing up all over the Internet so they must have rolled out at roughly the same time. Please do check with your local store before heading in just to confirm they’re in stock, everyone hates a wasted journey.

Whilst you’re there you may see the other set of new BaM characters, centred on the Wild West, Cowboys!

We will showcase these in a different article once we’ve acquired them ourselves of course.

LEGO Ideas Feature: Dragon Castle Pencil Pot https://www.thebrickpost.com/lego-ideas/lego-ideas-feature-dragon-castle-pencil-pot/ https://www.thebrickpost.com/lego-ideas/lego-ideas-feature-dragon-castle-pencil-pot/#comments Tue, 03 Nov 2020 15:38:58 +0000 http://www.thebrickpost.com/?p=6805 Our next LEGO Ideas Feature comes from a good friend and a The Brick Post regular, he’s even appeared on an episode of our Podcast, it is of course Aaron from CabbageFaceLego!

We recently featured another one of his many projects he has on the go, the Mallard train, which is doing really well on LEGO Ideas itself.

This time round we have gone back to the classic Castle/Knights theme with a very practical Pencil Pot. Perfect for offices and home offices alike!

Dragon Castle Pencil Pot

Are you tired of that boring pencil pot on your desk? Introducing the Dragon Castle Pencil Pot!

Aaron has captured the essence of the classic theme right the way down to the Knights of old torsos, which bring back some nice memories.

It wouldn’t be a Castle if there wasn’t a Skeleton present and this one is keeping guard at the main gate, ready to attack with his trusty crossbow.

I doubt you’d get very far as there is also a Dragon peering through the Castle ruins, being riden by the Castles in house Wizard.

Wizard and his Dragon

The inclusion of the cart side build with the chest and mounted sword is great and adds some playability to a mostly static and practical set.

Who goes there?!

Aaron’s work is always top notch and it’s fun to see what he comes up with next. I particularly like this Castle Pencil Pot idea as it harks back to the old days of Knights & Castles and would be a great addition to anyone’s desk. The way he’s keep the size down but packed in a lots of features is nice and the end result looks fab!

Aaron has also sourced the parts to build his Stud.io construction in real life, it looks amazing I must say and would love to give this ago.

Aaron’s creation in real life!

Saying that, I was recently gifted a set of the instructions to see if I could build and test run his work. I will most certainly share the creation once it’s done, although some pieces maybe substituted, sorry Aaron!

I really hope this grabs the attention of LEGO and persuades them into reviving the fan favourite theme from yesteryear!

Good luck Aaron!
