The 1,506 piece build is based on the Lamborghini Countach and boi does it look good. With its iconic sleek curves, butterfly doors and sexy spoiler. Being a larger scale build the details are great and can be represented better, with the interior being fully furnished, the bonnet & engine and futuristic doors. This is a proper shelf sitter and one for the car collectors amongst us.

Coming in at £159.99 ($/€179.99) the set is affordable and one I suspect many will pick up. Racing into stores and online on 1st July. Will you be picking one up or giving it a miss? Let us know via the comments section below.

Review: LEGO Speed Champions Lamborghini Countach (76908)! https://www.thebrickpost.com/reviews/review-lego-speed-champions-lamborghini-countach-76908/ https://www.thebrickpost.com/reviews/review-lego-speed-champions-lamborghini-countach-76908/#respond Wed, 09 Mar 2022 16:18:33 +0000 https://www.thebrickpost.com/?p=16829 If you’re an avid reader of The Brick Post, or watch any of our video/live streams then you’ll know that I personally don’t do LEGO Speed Champions, I’m not an engine head at all and can’t tell the difference between a sprocket or a flange valve!

That being said there are a few Speed Champions sets that grab my fancy, maybe it’s the Designer in me that appreciates the shapes and angles, the curves that span the entire vehicle, or maybe it more than that, maybe I am a car person and just don’t know it?

Whatever I am, I was drawn to one of LEGO’s March releases, the Lamborghini Countach (76908).

In this review I’ll go through what’s inside the box, the build process, and the Minifigure, finishing with my ‘final thoughts‘ and a rating. So grab a coffee, sit back, and enjoy.

The Box & Contents:

Recently LEGO have produced box art that is on point, especially with the added backgrounds, here the Lamborghini Countach can be seen racing through the city street, presumably Italy.

On the reverse we see the car from different angles and it looks stunning, even in LEGO form.

Inside the box we have two numbered bags, a sticker sheet, and the instruction manual. The stickers look pretty basic but are printed with clear backgrounds, great for when sticking on white pieces.

The Build:

I built this live on my Instagram account and it was great fun, sharing the whole experience with my followers. As usual when it comes to live streams the build itself takes a backseat and it somewhat a blur.

I remember most of the build techniques though as they were news and ways I’ve not yet encountered before. The most notable were the two back angled panels that simply attached to the body of the vehicle via a bar and bottle top element.

The front of the car was also a great building experience as you construct it away from the main build, using the SNOT (studs not on top) technique you build a small panel from LEGO elements then attach them to two hinged pieces and push the front down slightly producing that classic angled front of the Lamborghini Countach!

There are some printed parts in this set, the alloy wheel pieces have the exact same design but look so cool, and being printed it a massive bonus. The other piece is the canopy which has a dark transparent base and white printed onto it, making the end result somewhat faded and not the same tone as the rest of the car, and unfortunately makes the colour inconsistent.

Taking a look at the rear of the Lamborghini Countach you see angles that haven’t been done in LEGO form, which is very refreshing and something the drew me to the set and ultimately getting it. The same goes for one of the other new March releases, the Ferrari 512 M, which I also had to get so expect a live stream and review of that soon.

Being the newer 8 stud wide series there is room in the cab for two Minifigures, not that you get two in this set, but the option is there none-the-less. The gear stick is a plain grey Microphone, such a great part usage!

Talking of Minifigures…

The Minifigure:

Usually the Minifigures are the deciding factor for me when spending my hard-earned money on a LEGO set, but not here, the Minifigure takes a backseat (pun intended).

Don’t get me wrong the Minifigure included is great and the printing on the torso and head is awesome but to a non car person it doesn’t hold much worth.

The legs and hair piece are pretty standard and nothing special, making this a kind of ‘meh’ Minifigure.

The Conclusion:

Overall LEGO Speed Champions Lamborghini Countach (76908) is great and well worth picking up if you’re a car fan!

The angles and shape is what drew me to the LEGO Lambo as I love this type of design, it’s very futuristic.

There are tons of techniques used here and ones I’d definitely use again in other projects and MOCs.

The Minifigure is a little lacklustre but OK. Leg printing would have made it a tad more special.

Thank you for reading this far and hopefully you’ve enjoyed the review, please let us know below what you thought of it and the set in question, do you collect the LEGO Speed Champions sets?
