The magazine itself follows suit with all its predecessors, with a ton of puzzles and activities, such as dice based games, mazes and word games, there’s even a collection of Marvel hero postcards on the back cover. These are great fun for the intended younger fans, offering up a fun yet somewhat educational experience.

The double-sided poster as usual features great artwork and worthy of hanging onto for LEGO room decoration. Also the Comic-strip stories are great fun to read especially with young fans, they often feature characters that are included as freebies with each magazine issue, this time around we get the a Star-Lord Minifigure and a brick-built Micro-fighter style Bowie ship.

Unfortunately the Minifigure isn’t exclusive to the Magazine and can be found two LEGO sets, one is the more pricey Bowie Ship (76255) whilst the other is a smaller and more affordable option, Star-Lord & Groot (76253). The torso and legs both have printing, which is great for a set of this size, making the price that more appealing for collectors like myself. Sadly the arms are plain and lack printing, which is a shame. It is still a great way to obtain the Minifigure for your collection though and it’s highly recommended that you do. The build is awesome and is very reminiscent of the LEGO Micro-fighter sets, again for the price the parts on offer is amazing and the final build looks stunning. According to the included Comic story inside the Magazine, it’s classed as a Glider.

Below are a handful of pages to showcase what these style of publications offer.

LEGO Marvel Superhero Legends Magazine Issue 22 can be picked up from most good newsagents and supermarkets, such as WHSmith, ASDA, Tesco and Sainsbury’s, to mention a few. The torso features an amazing design which we’ve seen a handful of times before in LEGO Marvel Sets, most recently the Dr Strange Interdimensional Portal Polybag.

Sadly this isn’t an exclusive to the Magazine and is now quite a common Minifigure. The print on the torsos and legs looks nice and is done to a high standard, LEGO have always done well in this respect and are only getting better.

The unique moulded Cape is still an awesome piece to have even if you have some in collection already, spares are great especially this one.

I would say that for around the same price you could pickup the Dr Strange Interdimensional Portal Polybag, this comes with the same Minifigure along with a cool little build, making it much more better value for money.

LEGO Marvel Avengers Superhero Legends Magazine Issue 6! https://www.thebrickpost.com/reviews/lego-marvel-avengers-superhero-legends-magazine-issue-6/ https://www.thebrickpost.com/reviews/lego-marvel-avengers-superhero-legends-magazine-issue-6/#respond Mon, 05 Jul 2021 12:55:43 +0000 https://www.thebrickpost.com/?p=11898 With all the recent LEGO Marvel set reveals it feels right to review the latest issue (6) of the LEGO Avengers Superhero Legends magazine. It comes complete with a Captain America Minifigure!

We’ll dive straight in with what’s inside the magazine first, which usually consists of a comic strip or two, a handful of activities, and a sneaky peek at what awesome Minifigure is on offer next time.

Open the magazine and on pages 4 & 5 you’ll find the first set of puzzles. Captain America has lost his Helmet and Shield and it’s up to you to find them, spanning the two pages. Look closely as they’re quite small!

Also on page 5 there is a puzzle and a set of instructions on how to build the included Minifigure. The puzzle requires you to figure out which Shield path would result in Red Skull getting a ‘bonk’ on the head.

The instructions are very straightforward as the majority of parts make up the Captain America Minifigure itself. There is a small side build included but more on those two later in the review.

Flicking through this issue there are a lot of puzzles, games, and activities, there’s one that puts the included Minifigure to use!

The great thing about this game is you can play it solo, it only requires one player. You need the Captain America Minifigure, his helmet & shield, and a dice.

You’re confined to each zone until you gather the required points to leave it, jumping into the next one. The goal is to find his helmet in zone one, shield in zone, and then battle Thanos in zone three.

The comic story also focuses on Captain America and he finds himself on a strange journey, I won’t say to much about the story as it’s quite a decent one.

The artwork has always been top notch and as you can see below the group shot is incredible!

With every magazine I buy the double-sided poster gets pulled out carefully and, looked at, and then popped into a folder for storage, I have no idea why, I always say to myself that one day they’ll come in handy, and the fact they’re great pieces of art also.

The main image is of Thor, looking as though he’s just about to do a Superheroes landing and plunging his Hammer into the ground. It combines two of my favourite things, Superheroes and of course LEGO!

The other side is less of a poster and more of a set preview, the LEGO Helicarrier (76153). It included the main build and the Minifigures included, showing off the characters in action.

I really like this set but the one thing that puts me off about getting it is the scaled-down size. I understand it’s smaller and needs to be easily handled for the younger fans, but it is just too small for me.

Just before the poster is a face file on one of Captain America’s most feared villains, Red Skull!

It runs through his Powers & Weaknesses, as well as a short backstory and his countless confrontations with Cap himself. For the older fans the inclusion of how many Minifigure incarnations and number of sets he has appeared in is the only fact we need to know, and to be totally honest I was surprised to learn he’s been in 3 sets, I thought just the one originally.

Across from the fact file page you’ll find Dr Strange, he needs help cleaning his room which he has a handy spell for. Your job is to decipher the code to ultimately arrange the letters into the right order.

It’s becoming the norm to find these Superhero postcards on the back cover, and personally speaking I rather like them. They have a plethora of facts and stats on each of the covered Superheroes, in this issue we get postcards on Hawkeye, Black Panther, M.O.D.O.K, and Vision.

They’re a great way and potential project for younger fans to make a small, fun, fact ring binder of all their favourite heroes!

Onto the freebie, which if you haven’t seen already is none other than Captain America himself.

If you haven’t got this character in LEGO Minifigure form yet then I highly recommend picking up this issue as the price, £3.99, is incredible!

He comes fully kitted out too with a helmet & shield, LEGO have even included a hair piece for when he pops his helmet off. I love it when LEGO do this and it shows that they are aware of the Character and set as a whole, granted it’s a small piece but it adds so much more playability to an already feature packed foil bag.

The head has alternate faces, one with a chinstrap and the other without, again for when his helmet is on or off, thank you LEGO for this high level of detail.

The torso is done really well, but sadly nothing we haven’t seen of got before. Never the less it’s great to get such high quality printed parts, the designers do an outstanding job.

When Cap is off duty he can hangup his helmet and shield on the handy display build that’s in included. The whole thing uses just four parts but yet it works surprisingly well, and doesn’t fall over!

Overall issue 6 of the LEGO Avengers Superhero Legends Magazine is good, the comic story is fun and entertaining for all ages of LEGO fan.

The puzzles and games are also great fun with the addition of the solo player game, as sometimes there aren’t two of you around to play.

Again the Minifigure is really where it’s at, and so far we’ve never missed an issue, as you know we here at The Brick Post only purchase and review what genuinely gets us excited, and this line of magazine doesn’t disappoint.

Pick it up now if you haven’t all ready!

If you fancy a sneak peek at the next issues freebie Minifigure take a look below, it’s another fantastic character and one we don’t really to often.

LEGO Marvel Superhero Legends Magazine Issue 4 – Venom! https://www.thebrickpost.com/reviews/lego-marvel-superhero-legends-magazine-issue-4-venom/ https://www.thebrickpost.com/reviews/lego-marvel-superhero-legends-magazine-issue-4-venom/#respond Thu, 04 Mar 2021 12:42:11 +0000 http://www.thebrickpost.com/?p=9273 These LEGO Marvel Avengers magazines have become my highlight each month, they pack great comic stories and activities inside and gift you an awesome Minifigure too!

Front cover

I am a little ashamed to say that being a big LEGO Marvel fan I didn’t have a Venom Minifigure in my collection until I grabbed this issue.

Before we get carried away with the Minifigure let’s get the magazine out the way first. As we’ve all become so familiar with what lies in wait within pretty much every LEGO iteration of magazine it never bores me to review them, yes we might always see a maze, crossword, or matching/pairs puzzle but they are all different in style and usually surrounding the particular character that’s included as the freebie.

In the comic strip we join the Avengers and their fight against Dr Doom, he has somehow manipulated Venom, or more precisely the goo, to give him power and try to topple the Avengers. You’ll have to read the rest to find out what happens.

Amongst the many activities there is a nice colouring page that again features the Avengers, I noticed Thor’s beard is already done, perhaps the creators missed it or they don’t want you to mess with it, who knows!

Something a little different to the normal activities is a code breaker, you need to help Iron Man crack the code in order to find the location of Ultron, my young Son enjoyed finding the corresponding letters and finally making the sentence and found Ultron at…. Oops, almost gave it away.

On the opposite page is where we get back to the usual puzzles within very issue. The Maze is basic in terms of you need to get from the Start to the Finish, there aren’t any obstacles, hidden paths, or codes to crack. It’s very much your typical Maze, which is fun and took my Son, the intended reader, only moments to get through.

Another puzzle, featuring Vision, is rather clever and takes ehments from other pages found in the magazine and asks for you to locate them. This ensures that you read through the entire magazine as not to miss anything. Of course Vision is very popular currently thanks to the hit Disney Plus show WandaVision, which I highly recommend!

A growing tradition is having soemthing to cut-out on the back cover, being slightly thicker paper it makes sense. In this issue we get four character cards that give us an insight into that particular Superhero and their abilities.

We Blackwidow, Loki, Iron Man, and Antman. I hope we get more in coming issues as having a card for every Superhero would be great, the art is incredible and could be used in so many ways, framing them would like ace once put on the wall for display!

Here Comes Venom is a page dedicated to the guy, or should that be goo, himself.

It features information regarding his powers, where he comes from, what he can shape-shift into and more. This is also where the instructions are to help you build the free LEGO Venom Minifigure.

Ooh that’s a perfect link to take us onto the Minifigure portion of the review!

As I’ve said many times, on the website and on various episodes of our Podcast, LEGO have definitely stepped up their game when it comes to the freebies.

Many moons ago the magazines were still great, don’t get me wrong, but they sometimes lacked in the free gift department. Getting the odd small build is wonderful and certainly changes it up a bit, but getting the same Minifigures over and over again was getting tiresome, I’m looking at you Owen Grady from the LEGO Jurassic World magazines!

The included Venom Minifigure is awesome to say the least, he is in only a handful of LEGO sets and has some very interesting parts.

As I mentioned at the very beginning of the review I had yet to aquire him for my collection so was very chuffed to hear the news of him being a freebie, well £3.99 if you take into account the magazine cost.

The price itself is really good for what you get and is at the lower end out of all the different iterations of LEGO magazine. So far we’ve be graced with Minifigures in every issue and long may it remain. I am interested to see a micro-build or two to see what they come up with, but much prefer the Minifigures!

He comes with a host of tentacles and stud holders, all in the colour black. I’ve not personally seen the larger tentacle pieces before so was really intrigued by them, they have a nice shape about them and suit Venom down to the ground!

The printing on both the head and torso is very crisp and detailed, the white is quite solid considering its printed into a black torso.

It’s so good that we get an anti-hero in a magazine, as so far in the three previous issues the characters have been ‘goodies’ – Spider-man, Iron Man, Captain Marvel

Overall the Magazine is great and features a lot of different puzzles and activities to previous ones, which makes a nice change.

The addition of the colouring page and code cracking puzzle is a nice touch and was very enjoyable to finish.

The Minifigure is awesome to say the least and a welcomed addition to the collection. The unique accessories are also great with the inclusion of two large black tentacles, two smaller ones, and a handful of stud holders.

We highly recommend thisnl iteration of LEGO magazine and urge you to go out and grab them, or subscribe if you can!

Here’s a sneak peek of next issues freebie:
