LEGO Zelda Great Deku Tree (77092) Officially Revealed! https://www.thebrickpost.com/news/lego-zelda-great-deku-tree-77092-officially-revealed/ https://www.thebrickpost.com/news/lego-zelda-great-deku-tree-77092-officially-revealed/#respond Tue, 28 May 2024 13:00:37 +0000 https://www.thebrickpost.com/?p=38762 LEGO has officially unveiled the long awaited and rumoured Zelda inspired set – introducing LEGO Zelda Great Deku Tree (77092)!

The 2,500 piece set is based on an iconic location seen in many of the Zelda games. The Great Deku Tree is finally in brick form and it looks stunning, although the new leaf elements are questionable. Sitting on top of a brick-built plinth, the set itself features a woodland area covered in plants, mushrooms and trees, with parts of an old ruin dotted around. The tree itself has the facial features seen in the game, at the end of the branches are older leafy elements with at least one new recolour.

Also included in the set are 4 Minifigures, Link in both young and old forms along with Zelda. These are by far the highlight of the set and the main pull for most fans to pickup the set.

Hitting stores and online 1st September at a retail cost of £259.99 ($/€299.99). Take a look at the official images below along with the product details. Don’t forget to let us know what you think of the set via the comments section.

Official details:

BUILD THE LEGEND: INTRODUCING THE LEGEND OF ZELDA GREAT DEKU TREE 2-IN-1 LEGO SET

28th May 2024: Today, the LEGO Group unveils the LEGO® The Legend of Zelda™ Great Deku Tree 2-in-1 Set, an epic homage to an iconic character in Nintendo’s The Legend of Zelda™ series. The intricately designed 2-in-1 LEGO set is a brick-built recreation of the character, which can either be built as the Great Deku Tree from The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time or from The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.

This 2,500-piece set encapsulates the essence of adventure and nostalgia whilst featuring meticulous details. Fans can build a selection of their fondest moments from The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time or from The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild through building and exploring the depths of the Great Deku Tree. In addition to the Great Deku Tree, the set comprises iconic sceneries from the video games including the Master Sword pedestal from Breath of the Wild, as well as Link’s House from Ocarina of Time, allowing enthusiasts freedom to customise their display. The build is elegantly mounted on stands, providing an effortless showcase of the set.

Notably, both builds offer interactive features. In the Breath of the Wild rendition, the Great Deku Tree’s face can be animated with the simple press of a lever, while the Ocarina of Time Great Deku Tree version boasts a captivating mechanism: when activated, its mouth opens, revealing a cleverly designed Skulltula (a spider-like enemy from the games) that descends into its depths.

In the Breath of the Wild version, enthusiasts will marvel at the Great Deku Tree adorned in vibrant pink blossoms, accompanied by the iconic Master Sword pedestal. Notably, this rendition boasts an engaging feature: the ability to animate the tree’s expressive eyebrows and mouth, adding depth to the build.

Meanwhile, in the Ocarina of Time version, builders will encounter a lush green foliage-adorned Great Deku Tree. This version includes Link’s House, a pivotal element tied to the Ocarina of Time narrative, adding an extra layer of nostalgia and authenticity to the set. It’s worth mentioning that regardless of which version you choose to build, you will have the ability to construct both the Master Sword pedestal and Link’s House as smaller models.

The set includes four LEGO minifigures that showcase iconic characters from the series. In the Breath of the Wild version, Princess Zelda and Link are dressed in their recognisable blue attire. As for the Ocarina of Time rendition, you’ll find both Young Link and Link. Additionally, the set includes buildable characters and creatures such as Hestu the Korok (complete with his maracas), several smaller Koroks, Deku Babas, Navi the Fairy, the Deku Sprout, and a Skulltula.

Speaking about the launch of the set, Eiji Aonuma, Producer of The Legend of Zelda series at Nintendo Co., Ltd, reveals: “I’m really thrilled that The Legend of Zelda is joining the world of LEGO bricks, which has spurred the creative impulses of so many people of all ages.

The Deku Tree was the first element from The Legend of Zelda we wanted to represent using LEGO bricks. This set allows you to build two different versions of the Deku Tree from The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild with unique features that are a great fit for the nature of the series. I can’t wait for everyone to get the chance to build this part of The Legend of Zelda world with their own hands.”

LEGO Designer, Wes Talbott, comments about the creation of the set: “Our fans have been asking for a LEGO set based on The Legend of Zelda series for a while so we were delighted to work with Nintendo to create the Great Deku Tree in brick form. As a fan of the franchise, it was great to work on this set and fill it with details and references from the games. I’m also glad we managed to offer the choice to build one of two versions to appeal to many Zelda fans. I can’t wait to see the fans reaction to this set.”

Bringing the world of the Great Deku Tree to life in brick form, the LEGO The Legend of Zelda Great Deku Tree 2-in-1 Set, beckons seasoned heroes or newcomers alike to embark on a reminiscent journey through the different eras.

LEGO Legend of Zelda Great Deku Tree (77092) Rumoured For 2024! https://www.thebrickpost.com/news/lego-legend-of-zelda-great-deku-tree-77092-rumoured-for-2024/ https://www.thebrickpost.com/news/lego-legend-of-zelda-great-deku-tree-77092-rumoured-for-2024/#respond Sat, 20 Jan 2024 18:21:38 +0000 https://www.thebrickpost.com/?p=34927 There is a rumour circulating that we could be getting a LEGO Legend of Zelda set!

The Great Deku Tree (77092) has a speculated release of September 2024 and will comprise of around 2,500 pieces. For those that aren’t familiar with the Great Deku Tree, it first appears in Ocarina of Time and later in The Wind Waker, Breath of the Wild, and Tears of the Kingdom, it’s the guardian of the Kokiri.

Also suggested and highly likely is the presence of multiple Minifigure characters from Hyrule including Link with his Hylian Shield. At this time certain details are still unknown, the price is anyone’s guess, but with the part count, license and potential Minifigure lineup it might be around $300

Of course we know LEGO has been working closely with Nintendo as we have LEGO Super Mario and Donkey Kong themed sets. It was only a matter of time they added to the lineup of gaming sets. Zelda has proven popular over the years by the amount of LEGO Ideas submissions that have gained the required support but sadly fell short in review stage.

What do you think of this potential news? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below. As always please take all the above information with a pinch of salt, these are purely rumours at present.

LEGO Ideas Feature: The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wind – Link https://www.thebrickpost.com/lego-ideas/lego-ideas-feature-the-legend-of-zelda-breath-of-the-wind-link/ https://www.thebrickpost.com/lego-ideas/lego-ideas-feature-the-legend-of-zelda-breath-of-the-wind-link/#respond Fri, 19 Feb 2021 17:01:44 +0000 http://www.thebrickpost.com/?p=9052 It’s LEGO Ideas Feature time and this week we have choosen an old favourite from our Childhood. He first appeared on the NES (Nintendo Entertainment System) in 1986, in a game called The Legend of Zelda!

We are of course referring to Link, he has had many adventures over the decades with no signs of quiting yet, what with the recent wave of Nintendo Switch games.

He has also changed somewhat over that time too, from a blocky little 8bit character to a fully fledged Humanoid being. But he has yet to appear in LEGO form, that is up until now!

Product idea by: Brixter

Introducing The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wind – Link by Brixter.

Being a gamer at heart this product idea has more than just the LEGO aspect going for it for me. I admit that my knowledge is somewhat limited to the late 80s version of Link and Zelda but I won’t let that stop me from appreciating this wonderful display piece.

Set out on an epic quest to defeat Calamity Ganon and bring peace to Hyrule with Link, the most iconic character from The Legend of Zelda.

What impresses me the most is how Brixter has incorporated a lot of different features and techniques into this build. I can see a lot of the SNOT (studs not on top) technique which works extremely well, also covering up bare studs with tiles is a really nice touch and finishes off the figurine nicely!

I particularly like the way he’s constructed the hair, it’s so life like and gives the impression the wind is blowing through it.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wind - Link

There are a variety of classic Link weapons and accessories at his disposal from his trusty sword and bow to his much needed shield.

The product idea quickly aquired its second milestone of 1000 supporters within just five weeks of being listed. To celebrate Brixter added the Master Sword and Hylian Shield to an already impressive collection. I wonder what treats await us when it hits 5k!?

I built the Master Sword and Hylian Shield, some of the most powerful and iconic weapons in the game.

It’s not just a display piece, although it certainly would look stunning sat on a shelf or in a display cabinet, you can also position Link in a multitude of poses as he is articulate in all of the usual joints.

Included in the product idea is a base for Link to stand proud on, it resembles a rocky hilltop with  Silent Princess Flowers and other forna dotted around it. Great time and detail has been put into the plinth and it shows, of course it has to be strong enough to be moved and withstand a substantial sized brick-built Link!

Overall the product idea is stunning and Brixter has done an outstanding job. I’d love to see what else he comes up with, as there is more to this series of display figurines that could be done. Imagine a whole collection of iconic game, or even movie, characters done in this style, it’s something I’d definitely be interested in seeing and one day purchasing.

We wish Brixter the best of luck with his Idea and to one day seeing it sat in a shelf in an official LEGO Store.
