Today we’re going to look at some of the Minifigure centric hashtags, what they involve and when they’re hosted.

Our senior editor, Patrick, often rounds up the months build challenges in a handy list, so I thought it would be a great idea to do the same with Minifigure based activities. So, grab your bag of Minifigures and your Sigfig and let’s dive in!

Each hashtag has at least two things in common, they happen weekly on the day in the title and they each require you to use the hashtag and tag the hosts. Others may require more so please head over to their accounts for more details. Clicking each hashtag title and the hosts names will take you to their Instagram accounts.

Jump to a day:

Monday:

#MinifigureMonday

@brick_beat

This hashtag is run by @brick_beat and shared here on the website. You can read more about it I using the year it released, piece count and more. Mark (host) loves his Minifigures and shows them off in a weekly post. You can get involved too by sharing yours every Monday, don’t forget to tag him and use the hashtag.

#LEGOMarvelMonday

@boombrickz@superhero_bricks

Kicking of with a relatively new comer, this hashtag has fast become a weekly staple. As you can probably guess it focuses on LEGO Marvel and asks you to grab a Marvel Minifigure (or set) and photograph it. Most people like to pop a Superhero Minifigure in a scene and add a short story to it.

#MinifigMosaic

@virginia_bricks@johnbtoys@brick_beat

Whenever the word Mosaic is uttered you may think of one particular person in the LEGO community and you’d be right for doing so. @Virginia_Bricks is one of the hosts behind the incredible #MosaicsOnMonday activity. Although #MinifigMosaic is an off-shoot of it, the theme does focus on Minifigures. If you’re struggling with inspiration for a Mosaic, then grabbing a Minifigure may give you that much needed spark, hence #MinifigMosaic. It’s not limited to just Mondays either, you can post any day or the week.

#MinifigMugMonday

@thebrickbabe

Another simple yet awesome hashtag to do is hosted by @thebrickbabe. Grab a Minifigure, grab and Mug, take a photo and post. There are quite a few LEGO mugs & cups to choose from so mix it up.

Tuesday:

#FigtographyTuesday

@lets_brick_it@boombrickz

Is hashtag gets you out & about, as the main pull for this activity is being outdoors. As a LEGO fan myself I’m often couped-up inside building, so at least once a week it’s nice to get out and snap some pictures. It’s open to any theme and Minifigure so have fun with it!

#TukTukTuesday

@kt_and_lego@holybrickstuds @brickinintheusa

Do you have a LEGO Tuk Tuk? Pose your Sigfig, or any other Minifigure, with it and take a photo, post it on Tuesday, done! The hosts and the many partakers have great fun creating scenes focused around the LEGO Tuk Tuk set and MOCs.

Wednesday:

#SigfigScene

@thebrickpost@brick_beat@virginia_bricks

#SigfigScene has been going for awhile now and is hosted myself here at The Brick Post along with two good friends, @brick_beat & @virginia_bricks. It’s a single concept, make a LEGO representation of yourself, pop into a brick-built scene (set or MOC), take a photo, share on social media using #SigfigScene, collaborate with @sigfigscene on Instagram and tag the hosts. The first Wednesday in every month is themed, so follow us to stay up-to-date.

Thursday:

#LEGOThemeThursdays

@reddsbricks@angela_thebrickjedi@brixish

This is a new one for me personally but it looks great fun. The premise is simple with a new the every month, January is ‘What makes you happy‘. Although it’s not Minifigure exclusive, the majority or entries do focus on a character. It happens every Thursday and with a theme so broad you can really get stuck into it and use your imagination to create something heartfelt, cool, whacky, or highlighting a message.

Friday:

#LEGOFriendFridays

@roslederman

This is a fairly new hashtag to the list and is a great idea. It asks you to snap a photo of your Sigfig with a Friend. It’s a nice way to show appreciation to someone that has helped or been there for you, makes you laugh or just a good friend.

Saturday:

#LEGOStarWarsSaturday

@brickmcbricksworth@lets_brick_it

This is dedicated to LEGO Star Wars, if you hadn’t of guessed already. I like this one as I personally like putting characters in random or unlikely situations. Others pop their Minifigures in a Star Wars set and recreate a scene from the movies/TV shows. Whatever floats your boat, this is a great activity to take part in.

#LEGOHaturday

@inappropriatepiratebricks@adrian_c308@lego_dad_and_the_kids

As the title suggests, it’s Hat themed and asks you to snap your Sigfig or other Minifigure with a Hat on. I love this activity as I usually go over the top with it and do something bonkers. I’ve come to realise that I need more LEGO Hats in my arsenal!

Sunday:

#LEGOBodySwapSundays

@brightonbricks

This hashtag is very imaginative and the premise is simple – grab any two Minifigures and swap their bodies! The outcomes are often hilarious and make for some cool, whacky and unexpected combinations. Give it a go, which Minifigures will you choose?

We hope this list serves you well, it makes for an awesome week’s worth of activities, content and most importantly FUN. Please check back regularly as we will be updating it with new activities.

If we’ve missed any Minifigure centric hashtags off the list or you have one you’d like considered for the list please get in contact with us via Instagram.

LEGO Themed Hashtags, Activities And Challenges To Get Involved In! https://www.thebrickpost.com/news/lego-themed-hashtags-activities-and-challenges-to-get-involved-in/ https://www.thebrickpost.com/news/lego-themed-hashtags-activities-and-challenges-to-get-involved-in/#respond Wed, 26 Jul 2023 06:53:59 +0000 https://www.thebrickpost.com/?p=29522 The LEGO community is, for the most part, a friendly and loving place with lots of good people and activities to get involved in and be a part off.

Many hashtags exist and cover every day of the week, so there is most certainly something for everyone. It’s a great way to make friends, chat with other like minded people and post content on a regular basis. Finding the right activity for you shouldn’t be too hard, especially with our guide to some of the best hashtags out there.

Each one involves photography, which maybe obvious I know, how else will you get your creation of works of art on social media. With phone cameras it can be as basic as point and shoot, this is how many people do it, myself included. Others use proper cameras, fiddle about with the settings and ultimately get better results, which can also be done on a phone to some degree. It’s all trial & error and what works best for you.

Some activities choose to have a logo and matching watermark, with our weekly #SigfigScene this is optional but is always available via the dedicated page found here, along with other variations of it.

Most centre themselves around Minifigures, some feature MOCs (my own creation) and others focus on Art. They all involve our shared love of LEGO, which is the point, meeting new people and sharing our works of art online for all to see.

Below are some hashtag activities to get involved in:

#SigfigScene:

Up first is a shameless plug (again) of mine and Mark’s (@brick_beat) weekly Wednesday feature called #SigfigScene. Here you grab your Sigfig (mini you) and pop them in a scene of your choice, it could be a LEGO set, MOC or real world location. Our logo can be found on its own dedicated page here.

Below are a few examples of #SigfigScene. We encourage followers to add a little story to do with the scene, these are often fun and give context to the photo.

#MosaicsOnMonday:

Monday’s are stereotypically seen as a ‘blue‘ or low day, it’s the first day back at work for most and often a struggle. But not anymore! Take part in the amazing #MosaicsOnMonday hosted by @virginia_bricks, @johnbtoys and @brick_beat!

If you haven’t guessed it by the title, this weekly feature asks you to get creative and produce a work of art. Most choose LEGO DOTS to work with but you can use any LEGO elements you like, it doesn’t even have to be flat. Check out Dana’s (@virginia_bricks) amazing 3D Mosaics below.

#CMFHabitats23:

This next one isn’t on a set day each week, there are select times of the month/year to take part. Jen (@brickfambuilds) hosts many Habitat builds throughout the year with the latest one (now ended) being #CMFHabitats23.

They are built around a certain layout, 8x8x8, and are themed to make it more fun. Part Habitats have revolved around CMFs, Disney, Harry Potter, Muppets, and a vast array of other themes.

#DinoFunFridays:

A favourite of mine is hosted by Monique (@thebrickbheanie) and takes place in Fridays, #DinoFunFridays.

She combines Dinosaurs and LEGO to form this hashtag, two of my personal favourite things. Often you’ll find Minifigures dressed as Dinosaurs or a Sigfig caught up in a Dino themed scene.

#FigtographyTuesday:

A brand new Tuesday feature has emerged called #FigtographyTuesday, hosted by two of The Brick Boyz, Jake (@lets_brick_it) and Martin (@boombrickz). The weekly challenge requires you to step outside, Minifigure in hand, and take an outdoorsy photo.

#TwelveMinuteTuesday:

Another weekly challenge brought to you on a Tuesday is this aptly named hashtag, #TwelveMinuteTuesday.

Hosted by three friends, @katilego4fun, @84builder and @the.lego.mom, the challenge is simple, set a timer for 12 minutes, build until the timer sounds and then share your accomplishment online. Simple and fun!

#LetsBuildSeries:

I don’t personally know much about this one but I’ve heard and seen some amazing things about it.

This activity is hosted by @brickhuntress and the theme changes each month along with an additional themed hashtag, but you essentially build and share anything you want with that particular theme in mind.

#JohnnyThunderThursday:

Another hashtag hosted by the talented @brickfambuilds, this time focusing on a single Minifigure, Johnny Thunder.

#JohnnyThunderThursday is simple is concept, grab a Johnny Thunder Minifigure and take a photo. I guess the only hard part is sourcing a Minifigure, which is easy enough through Bricklink/BrickOwl or eBay. This of curse happens every Thursday and it a fun way to get involved with the same character each week, why not make a story?!

#LEGOHaturday:

Last but in no means least is something to do on the weekend, Saturday has now become #LEGOHaturday!

Hosted by @adrian_c308, @Inappropriatepiratebricks and @LEGO.dad.and.the.kids. Their hashtag is very fun and very simple, grab your Sigfig and pop them in a Hat, done. This can be a lot of fun and whacky, there must be a ton of hats out there that haven’t been used yet, which one will you choose?

There are of course many more available to take part, if you kq ow a good one please feel free to contact us or leave a comment below and we’ll add it to the list.

The LEGO community is a great place to be and hosts of these weekly/monthly events are usually very friendly and open to questions so don’t be afraid to ask what the guidelines are and if you genuinely want help.

Thank you for reading this short but hopefully insightful blog post, we hope you have fun making memories!
