The new Ready2Play theme focusses on toys to play with instead of building sets. Along with the announcement of the new theme, we had our first look at 2 sets releasing this Summer! Based on this first sets the new theme will include both minifigures and minidolls, which has only been seen with sets for The LEGO Movie 2.

The press release sent out for the announcement mentions these sets being a throwback to the early LEGO toys, before the introduction of the well known and beloved interlocking brick system. LEGO furthermore higlights it’s sustainability goals for introducing the new concept.

The first 2 sets are a police car and an ambulance, closely matching the existing City and Friends themes. These 2 sets will release June 1st and retail for . In the press release, LEGO teases more sets like a police station will follow later in the year. No words yet if that’ll be a minidoll or minifigure set.

The full statement from LEGO reads as follows:

The LEGO Group is excited to announce its latest innovation: LEGO Ready2Play. Based on extensive research over multiple years, we’re excited to bring a new play experience to children all over the world!

In recent decades, the LEGO product has been evolving with small steps. In the same time, the desires from children all around the world also shifted. As we found in our research, building a toy is seen more and more as an obstacle to get to a rewarding play experience.

In a big step for the company, we’ve been developping an inovative new concept that will be a main pillar going forward. In addition to DUPLO, System and Technic we now announce LEGO Ready2Play.

As Sven Steinson, VP of Product Innovation explains: “Originally LEGO made toys that were made to simply play with. We have found that many LEGO fans, of all ages, are nostalgic for historic LEGO products. So we started developping a new product that was a tribute to our past and also a great product to showcase our future.”

“The new concept also fits well in our ambitious sustainability goals. Without the building, there’s a lot less packaging material required. The absence of instruction booklets also makes a big difference. We expect to save 401 hectares of forest each year as this concept takes a more prominent place in our product range.”

With the anouncement of this concept we like to unveil the first 2 sets. These sets are closely matched to the City and Friends themes and will be a police car and an ambulance. Later this year we will extend the range with a police station, hospital and many more exciting new playsets.

LEGO Ready2Play will be available from June 1st.

LEGO Monkie Kid Megapolis City (80054) Revealed! https://www.thebrickpost.com/news/lego-monkie-kid-megapolis-city-80054-revealed/ https://www.thebrickpost.com/news/lego-monkie-kid-megapolis-city-80054-revealed/#respond Mon, 06 Nov 2023 10:44:28 +0000 https://www.thebrickpost.com/?p=32362 Thanks to the Chinese International Import Expo (CIIE), that is happening right now, we have our first look at a handful of LEGO sets coming in 2024! Be sure to check our other posts for the Chinese Traditional Festival and Friends set(s) also revealed there today.

Megapolis City seems to be a rather interesting Monkie Kid set. A city comparable with the previous Lantern City set consisting of small modules, giving plenty of opportunities for customization.

There are no details known regarding piece count, price and release dates yet. Being Monkie Kid it’s likely these sets will only be available from big flagship LEGO stores and LEGO online outside the APAC region.

Once more information is available we will of course post it here on The Brick Post, so be sure to check back over the next few days!

So what do you think of Monkie Kid Megapolis City? Share your thoughts in the comments!

Speculation: Are We Getting These LEGO Dreamzzz Sets? https://www.thebrickpost.com/news/speculation-are-we-getting-these-lego-dreamzzz-sets/ https://www.thebrickpost.com/news/speculation-are-we-getting-these-lego-dreamzzz-sets/#respond Mon, 17 Apr 2023 20:21:07 +0000 https://www.thebrickpost.com/?p=26406 After watching today’s teaser trailersI had a closer look and tried to find as many impressions of sets as possible. This is based on an unconfirmed list, published by Promobricks. All prices could be subject to change. Also I want to emphasize this interpretation with screenshots is speculation from my side. Some of this might turn out to be true, others might be proven to be something else entirely. But it’s fun to guess until we have the official pictures. All sets are rumored to release in August. The theme appears to be based on things a child might build if they build something from their fantasy which gives us quite some quirky images.

30636 Z-Blob and Bunchu Spider (?pcs/$4.99)

Based on set number and price this will probably be a small polybag, couldn’t spot any references in the teaser trailers. No piece count known so far.

71453 Izzie and Bunchu the Bunny (259pcs/$19.99)

I can imagine this being something like the Big angry Unikitty set from The LEGO Movie 2.

71454 Mateo and Z-Blob the Robot (237pcs/$19.99)

Really unsure about this, but this character looks a bit like a robot to me. It might just be Z-Blob.

71455 Grimkeeper the Cage Monster (274pcs/$34.99)

Couldn’t really find a Cage Monster in the trailers. If you think you found it, leave a comment below.

71456 Mrs. Castillo’s Turtle Van (434 pcs/$44.99)

One of my personal favorites from these. A crossover between a VW camper and a big turtle, looks to be some sort of food truck.

71457 Pegasus Flying Horse (482pcs/$49.99)

This was a hard one to get a good picture, but it seems this is one of the 3 vehicles chasing each other in Zane’s dream.

71458 Crocodile Car (494pcs/$59.99)

This appeared in two dreams, a rather funny looking crocodile with a car on his back. Should provide a fun set. Like a few of these, really getting LEGO movie vibes for these sets. They had some wild fantasy sets as well.

71459 Stable of the Dream Creatures (681pcs/$79.99)

Another wild guess, but I can imagine a LEGO set featuring these colorful creatures, in some stable like setting. The reindeer mold would suit a recolor like this. And I’m already anticipating this with great enthusiasm.

71460 Mr. Oz’s Spacebus (878pcs/$89.99)

Part schoolbus, part spaceship. Not hard to imagine this being made into a set.

71461 Fantastical Treehouse (1,257pcs/$99.99)

I couldn’t spot a clear image for this. There’s quite a few floating trees in Nya’s dream so this might be an indication. But it might just as well be something completely different.

71469 Knightmare Shark Ship (1,389pcs/$139.99)

The biggest set from the wave. It looks to be an impressive and aggressive Shark Spaceship. This reminds me more of the Ninjago Movie shark set.

And finally there’s this dragon. Can’t match it to any of these sets base on names, but seeing the popularity of LEGO dragons among several themes it’s likely to be included in a set in this theme.

So what are your thoughts on the sets, matching set names to the four trailers. Did you spot any other possible sets? Are you looking forward to these sets? Let’s discuss!
