It appears the site is down after some suspicious activity and Reddit users claim it’s due to ransom threats made on the platform.

Bricklink has been down since approximately 20.00 CET showing the maintenance page with the message: “We are currently investigating some unusual activity, so it’s too early to speculate further. We will share more information once it’s available.”

With many businesses and AFOLs depending on the site this of course caused further speculation on several social media. On Reddit unverified ransom messages to Bricklink surfaced. According to these big stores might have their inventories affected. It’s unconfirmed at this moment if these threats are substantial and if any accounts have been comprimised.

It would be a nightmare for everyone involved if this indeed is the result of a breach in the Bricklink security. Let’s hope taking the site down is preventing serious damage to the site, accounts and user data. At this point this was the only information we could gather regarding the situation. Since many users will be wondering what is going on, we felt it was the right thing to do to share this.

Update november 4th

Whilst not discussing the causes Bricklink has updated the message on it’s landing page:

We’re sorry Bricklink isn’t currently available.
Update November 4th. 3.58 am EST We continue to investigate the unusual activity. We want to make sure we take the time to investigate fully. We will be back up and running as soon as possible.

First look at LEGO Ideas 21343 Viking Village! https://www.thebrickpost.com/news/first-look-at-lego-ideas-21343-viking-village/ https://www.thebrickpost.com/news/first-look-at-lego-ideas-21343-viking-village/#respond Wed, 30 Aug 2023 18:12:31 +0000 https://www.thebrickpost.com/?p=30514 Thanks to French retailer Fnac we got our first look on the forthcoming LEGO Ideas Viking Village set. The set is released in cooperation with American retailer Target. Therefore it will be a Target exclusive in the USA with a few more sets forthcoming from this cooperation. Elsewhere it will be distributed as asual.

Containing 2103pcs the set will sell for €139.99 with prices for other regions yet to be confirmed. The set will be released on October 1st. The price per piece seems rather good, although I wouldn’t be surprised if this is caused by having a lot of small pieces.

If I’m honest it looks a lot smaller than other 2000+ part sets. I do like there’s quite a bit of brick built landscaping with slopes for rocks etc. It should provide a nice building experience and teach a few tricks on how to create some rough terrain without using ugly rock pieces.

The final design of the set is rather faithful to the original fan design by Brickhammer on LEGO Ideas.  It would also be a great addition to the current Creator 3-in-1  31132 viking ship set.

So what do you think of this set? Does it appeal to you? Share your thoughts in the comments.
